So. As of the 25th of July 2025, the online safety act has been put into effect to ensure the safety of children online. Do i think its a good thing? Yeah. Do i also think its pointless? ...Yeah. Mainly because all kids have to do now is just turn on a VPN, and you don't have to be Albert Einstein for that. The only people that are actually being fucked over by this legislation are grown men. I have read countless reddit posts on how the age verification system is highly unreliable and isn't as robust as people think. But what do *I* think of all this? I think this is another step into the UK becoming a surveillance state. i witnessed a man be questioned and fined by police all for having a mask on. Is this not what George Orwell's "1984" predicted? Don't we, as humans, have a right to privacy??? But anyways. What can we do about this? All we can do is revolt and hope for the best.
my opinions on the UK online safety act.
