i thought that the age restricted content would be a good thing. after everyone has been seeing the effects of porn on young minds. but now i am having to use a vpn to even use spacehey, half of my twitter won't load, as it is deemed "inappropriate". mind you, i am eighteen years of age, yet i'm having to prove myself to use bloody discord.
this was not thought out at all, and has been executed very suddenly and poorly.
not sure if this is a me thing, but instagram also won't let me follow any professional accounts? i'm not sure if they're deemed "adult" but to be fair, i was only trying to follow a buffy the vampire slayer fanpage, so i am unsure.

I have the personal opinion that the ban of porn also makes porn less hidden and less tagged. because of porn bans ur gonna see ALOT more hidden fetish content on places like tiktok or instagram. Not that this wasn't already an issue, but with porn bans, and also card companies trying to argue what you can or cannot purchase in terms of pornography. u WILL see alot more of it without you realizing because its untagged
Included in the fact that alot of these sites nowadays are requiring ID in order to watch it, which just seems suspicious. I don't want the government to know what I am exactly watching considering how the rise in anti-sex views has become in the last few years

Literally, and they're trying to make you put your ID or bank details into third party companies to prove your age? Like absolutely not, what happens when those companies get hacked and your personal data gets leaked? Not though through at all. VPN is my best friend right now

like im sure a small portion of all this stemmed from good intention but
its been a complete unmitigated disaster and its only gonna get worse :o

i think they'll likely be forced to go back on the restrictions. i think what they should be doing instead is teaching people that porn is not real and should not be taken that way. when i was taught sex ed, we were taught about flavoured condoms as a way to encourage us to use them... yet we weren't taught about the existence of porn, even though everyone in that class will have come across it at some point by then -_-
