Spacehey unavailable in the UK - goodbye?

so thanks to the UK governments new shitty laws, spacehey isn’t available in England anymore. platforms are required to verify age and unfortunately that’s too expensive for independent sites like spacehey to implement.

i’m currently using a Vee Pee eN to access the site but from what i can see, some things aren’t available. 

EXPLANATION OF NEW LAWS + MY OPINION

i’m gonna be using the acronym AC for Adult Content just because i’m not sure if i’m allowed to say Popcorn on this site.

sites with AC (The hub, Twitter, Reddit, Rool Thirtee For) are now required to verify age via facial recognition technology, AI, or showing your ID. not very good options! this is so that U18s can’t access AC…. safely. i truly believe while they had good intentions - restricting AC from young people due to the effects it can have on our minds + the fact we could be exposed to extreme content - this was implemented in the stupidest way.

instead of teens watching AC on sites with heavy moderation and rules where not everyone can upload, they’re gonna seek AC in other places. whether it’s less moderated sites, whether it’s through dms with adults, whether it’s from their own peers - you can’t stop teens looking at AC. that’s just not going to work. i know for a fact that there’s gonna be an influx in 14y/o boys begging girls on snapchat to send. if it was bad before, it’s gonna be 10x worse now.

i feel these laws have also given the government too much power over us (not just young people). it’s the parent’s responsibility to monitor online behaviour, not the prime minister’s. for those of age, their faces and official documents will be attached to their profiles. after the Glastonbury censorship with Kneecap and Bob Vylan, it’s obvious this will be used to limit free speech yet again. not to mention, you HAVE to feed your face to AI if you want to use a platform. amazing

i hope they realise the mistake they’ve made and reverse these regulations or at least figure out a better way to handle them. i’ll keep using a Vee Pee eN for as long as i can. 

if you see a few of ur friends suddenly go inactive - this might be the reason why.
