Ofc still the most developed nation out there but holy shit.
Most mentally developed? Hell no. I watched the 1 progressive vs 20 far right conservatives video ft Mehdi Hasan and holy moly. I haven’t watched his response video where he speaks on the debate yet but I did see a clip where he said that one of his managers or something (someone who was at the debate with him but not on screen) said that the debate felt more like a KKK rally rather than an actual productive conversation.
And honestly, I’d agree. The debate really showed how wide spread ideologies such as fascism and other ridiculousness are out there. Not to mention racism ofc. I want to say that it’s obvious but it really is a task to try and convey the amount of racism and bigotry in America. The system was literally built on racism and it lives everywhere. Racism is impossible to escape, you’ll find it in every nasty corner of the country.
Is there hope?

Well most people are progressive in our generation so there is hope. But most people just hate and don't have the inclination to develop into decent human beings.
I expect you’re referring to gen z, and yes it is true that most are pretty progressive, however, the pressing influence of “minority” far-right extremists advocating and hate and mistreatment, are not the minor issue that people think they are. These kinds of people are lurking in ALL places, like corners of the internet or even your place of employment.
Remember that fascist guy I mentioned? He worked some tech job (I think it was) and got fired shortly after the Jubliee video in which he self-proclaimed himself a fascist was released. Ironically, he created a gofundme for in order to support himself while he is in limbo.
But as for what you say about people not wanting to develop into decent human beings, I agree. Modern western society lacks compassion, nonetheless sympathy. Suddenly it is “too much work” to care for your fello human, and of course there are those who proclaim such as “cringy”, etc. I would say that a large contributor to this mindset in the USA was a rise in individualist governmental actions during the Second World War. This, along with several factors ofc give us the America we know to today.
I won’t bore you with a history lesson but ofc, to be very clear, there are several complex American social and economic systems that perpetuate individualism. Yes you should look out for yourself, but holy shit don’t be a dick.
While we would be much better if everyone could just be conscious of each other's situations and act within reason. I would say that it is literally impossible (despite how much I may want it lol).
So ofc you will never know EVERYONE’s situation to the fullest extent ofc because you are your own person with your own experiences and perspectives, but I still feel like this does not justify how shitting people are to each other.
I know some people are just “playing the game” and just acting in the was society has always taught them to but it gets to a point. I feel like people desire less and less genuine connection nowadays. The world is becoming more digital, AI is rising, and I would say that even a decrease in critical thinking and deductive reasoning—nation-wide— has further led to where we are now. (Ofc not ALL people but:) People don’t want to go outside and form connections because of the emotional tax of it all and the difficulty associated with obtaining higher levels of emotional intelligence. It’s sad.
I can hope though, that my little ramblings on the internet will help make a difference, if anything. Even if I just got one more person to consider what I have written about in earnest.

:3 thank you. What do you think abt ppl who think that want genuine human connection is cringe?

I think those people are very immature people who haven’t had the opportunity to have a connection before. So they go on the internet and bash other people for it. Just simple jealousy and immaturity! Thats a lovely question btw because it’s so prevalent these days. How do you feel abt it?

I agree with you! I feel like people are scared to form connections in this day and age, so this fear just gets projected onto others as “cringe” and such.
I understand someone having fear and anxiety surrounding vulnerability and connecting with other people, but the way that some people project this onto others and put them down for it is out of line imo, even if you are going through something. At some point you have to take accountability for being an asshole, even if you do have trauma.
Everyone is allowed to grow and make mistakes— nothing should stop someone from doing so— but repetition at the expense of others is a reach.
