Lammas / Lughnasadh (First Harvest)

Lamma (or also known to some as Lughnasadh is the first harvest of the year!! Normally landing on August first like it is this year! It is a harvest for fruit and grain often or at least used to be. It is a time of abundance and gratitude while also reflecting on the year as the days shorten and the season gets cooler.

Now this harvest is more about grain and corn and some fruits but I already have a yellow themed blog for litha so I went with strawberries and apples for the theme! Though I do not know their exact times of harvest i think apples are more in october sadly. But if you have apples to bake a pie thats still fun! Remember your practice is made to suit you, if you have some things on hand or nearby use those if you cant get the “exact” thing the holiday calls for. Always adapt and do what fits you!!

Things you can do to celebrate!

  1. You can bake bread or pie or other things using the harvest of grains and fruit!

  2. Make a simmer pot on the stove

  3. It is also on the first of the month so you can do any first of the month rituals you do tweaked to fit!

  4. Reorganize your altar or add offerings to your deities from the harvest.

  5. If you garden you may even get a harvest around this time!

  6. Have a feast with friends family or other witches! Make pie even!
