I don't fear AI, and I don't think it will take over.

AI is the biggest hottest topic right now as well all know. I feel like there is a general fear that it will take every job it can, every creative position, and fill up the internet and saturate it to a degree it will be unusable. But I truly, truly believe AI won't do this. I'm not someone who codes or works with AI, but I love researching topics related to it. So here's my take!

AI versus copyright:
 - I'm talking specifically for commercials. Although a lot of companies have already used AI here and there (for example, Coca Cola's AI commercials) COPYRIGHT stands in the way of AI having the monopoly. Why is that? Because you cannot copyright an AI photo or video. What do large corporations (think Disney) love? To own their own content so it can't be redistributed without them making a profit. No matter if a company even creates their own AI engine, the content made by an AI cannot be copyrighted. The AI still created the image, therefore the copyright immediately belongs to the AI, and since AI is not a person, the copyright doesn't belong to anyone. More and more lawsuits will protect this, as many past lawsuits have put this rule into legislation.

AI art is getting worse:
- AI art needs to be constantly trained, unfortunately, on much of what exists on the internet already. A lot of damage has already be done, as many artists have had their work trained on without their consent. HOWEVER, the resources on the Internet are limited. Many AI companies are already struggling with getting more data to train AI on, and because AI already fills the internet, AI images are getting trained... on other AI images. This cycle is expected to repeat, and AI art will just continue to train on flawed images.

- Also the concept of Nightshade, technology that artists can put on their work that will prevent AI from training on it. I'm not sure how effective it is, I haven't used it myself, but it seems promising!

AI and Dead Internet Theory:

- This one scares people a lot, somewhat reasonably so. Dead Internet Theory (in simplicity) is the theory that AI will soon not only just be the bots in the comment sections, but take over all the content and moderation, and soon the internet will be filled with AI talking to itself.

- Take Facebook, which is already experiencing problems like this. AI is promoting a lot of commercials (more than actual people), AI is interacting with this slop, and the cycle continues. BUT. Many companies who run these sloppy AI accounts for advertisement or for interaction are not turning a profit! That's because AI is the only thing interacting with this AI! Before maybe your grandma would click on an AI advertisement and purchase/get scammed by a product. But since the app is so saturated with AI interacting with itself, and not actually purchasing a product (because its AI), no profit is gained. Many of these companies will eventually not turn enough profit and move on. Sort of bleak it has to saturate an app or social media to do this, but it shows that eventually no one will be benefited.

ChatGPT and students:

- ChatGPT 1) gets most of math wrong no matter how much you try to correct it so have fun using that to cheat, and 2) is infamously incorrect and sloppy when writing essays. Teachers who do not give a fuck won't care, but as your education progresses, an AI written versus and student written essay will become more obvious. Not to mention that many more teachers are aware of the tools and are actively trying to find methods to combat it. More and more schools will combat AI with AI checkers, and some colleges are even instilling rules that essays are only to be written during class, to prevent more of this. Teachers also have the ability to check Google Doc's history and can tell when an essay magically took you 40 seconds to write!

- Just a note: The school system is flawed, but don't take advantage of your free education. Corporations want you to be uneducated so they can influence you to buy a product. Political figures on either side would prefer you to be uneducated as well so you would be easier to sway. Your education is important, and although there are many easy way outs, don't take advantage of it!

Lastly, PEOPLE don't want AI to take over:

- Decades of media telling us what an apocalypse would look like if robots took over. Every single failed "AI pin" startup we've seen in the past few years. Whenever a new movie comes out, and its not received well is immediately hit with AI allegations because people associate a lazy, uninteresting movie with being AI. Google Gemini being laughed at by the internet because it trained all its answers on THE ONION and REDDIT (you should use glue to make cheese stick to your pizza!). It's not just with AI, most newer technology in this day that are just as sloppy are being rejected by people. Meta failing to introduce the Metaverse because people will never be comfortable with the idea of being surrounded by ads and a screen all day. Many social medias are experiencing a slow decline in users. More and more people turning to older technology such as digital cameras and older consoles. Generally more people are buying CDs and vinyls and DVDs instead of just "buying" a digital copy. Hell, Spacehey exists to capture old social media's culture. The world is slowly turning away from not just AI, but most "newer" technology to escape the hellhole. I can't see a reason that people won't continue to do this.

NOTE- There is a benefit to some AI:

- Making human's jobs easier if they are extremely tedious. Most importantly! The medical field has been exponentially improving now that AI can find cancers faster than doctors. Medical professionals can use AI to give a person their ability to speak, walk, and live back. So many more examples I can't even begin to list. AI itself is a fascinating, and although we hate to say it, impressive technology being used for the wrong reasons.

-KB☆

I hope this will make some people less scared of the concept. The world seems to much scarier than ever, but there are some good things to look forward to! o((*^▽^*))o Thoughts?

You are very optimistic and I like. The first thing I wonna say is that AI to describe Chat GPT and other similair apps is just a good marketing. They are LLM.

AI is not the problem, the human greed is.
Many jobs are replaced by AI, some tedious jobs AI does better, some on the other hand does not. But if it does 40% good job for 20% the cost...is ir still luclrstive for greedy copro ro use AI.

We can save enviroment by nuclear power.

any thoughts on how it's effecting the environment? many people worry that by the time we come up with a solution to solve the issues with AI it might be too late

i didn't even think of that, but you bring up a great point! that's a gigantic problem we are facing with AI, I was more or less just trying to get a point across about some of the things that do feel a bit more in our control, like creative endeavors, job security, etc. a lot of legislation (especially in america) needs to be done in order to address these issues, and i feel that environmental protection a problem that has plagued us for decades (centuries?), so there's not a simpler solution. Its not just AI/NFTs causing damage to our environment, its also fossil fuel and plastic pollution and whatnot.
a lot of legislation on the ethics of AI are still being discussed in court of law (better late than never??) such as revenge porn or deepfake videos and I would consider environmental impact one of those topics that rely mostly on the legislation to prevent. T.T
still I would rather bring hope to people who are scared that although many things are out of hand, we can look forward to future improvement. but thanks for bringing this up! (•‿•)
