I’ve been wondering about death a lot lately. 

What happens when you die? You could give a thousand answers. 

You could go to heaven or hell, you could go to the underworld- but I have another theory.

What if- even if you’re dead, even if you can’t as much as twitch your fingers or open your eyes- you’re still conscious?

Sure, your body might be dead, but what about your soul? 

Maybe you’ll be in the ground for all eternity- restless, aching, trying to move or breathe, but all you can do is stare at the blacks of your eyelids, in the dark, as you agonisingly feel your skin slowly rotting away…your eyes drying up…and maggots chew at your brain.

It’s scary. But less scary than the real world.

Maybe I’ll hold a coin between my teeth before I blow my brains out- just in case I do go to the underworld, so I won’t have to wait for 100 years.
