Before yesterday's illegal attack on Iran, as many of you know, Americans began protesting Donald Trump and his administrations policies, especially on immigration. Starting on June 6, protests against the US Government's Gestapo known as ICE began in Los Angeles after they tried to carry out a raid in several sections of that city. Eventually, the people fought back and soon, protests began throughout the Southland. Although there were some isolated incidents, for the most part, they were peaceful and mostly in a five-block radius of Downtown LA. Trump, however, called the protesters "insurrectionists", wanted to arrest California's Governor Gavin Newsom as well as Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and there was even speculation that Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807, which would allow him to declare martial law and have the military serve in place of local law enforcement. Trump did send in more than 4,000 members of California's National Guard, even though the President must get permission from a state's Governor. Although some Marines were deployed to Los Angeles, they simply guarded Federal property and nothing more, with some even saying they don't like being pawns in Trump's political game. In addition, Governor Newsom has sued Trump for activating the National Guard without his approval and has even floated the idea of withholding $80 billion in Federal taxes California pays each year to the Government that basically keeps poorer red states afloat.
In addition, on June 14, the same day as Trump's pointless and wasteful military parade in Washington, there were what was called "No Kings" protests across the country with more than 5 million people showing up in more than 2,000 cities across the country, even in deep red states such as my current home in Boise, Idaho, while Trump's parade ended up being a major failure, just like his businesses and marriages. Sadly, these protests were marred by the death of fashion designer Afa Ah Loo, when he was shot accidentally in Salt Lake City, Utah when volunteer "peacekeepers" shot at a man who was carrying an AR-15, though he was not a target. And there was also the murder of a Minnesota state representative and her husband and the attempted murder of a state senator and his wife by a MAGA supporter who pretended to be a police officer, which resulted in several protests planned in Minnesota that day to be called off for safety reasons.
While I would say I am glad to see that Americans are finally rising and standing up to Trump and his authoritarian ways, it's too little, too late. The world has made it clear that the American people are not to be trusted ever again, even if they change their ways completely. They had their chance to prevent this on November 5, 2024 and they failed miserably. There are no second chances and there is no such thing as redemption. Even if America repudiates Trump and MAGA and never votes Republicans ever again, and even if it was revealed that Trump stole the election, which he probably did, it's too late to make things right. The world is done with the United States and the American people forever. We have chosen our fate and it cannot be changed. And now, with Trump weaponizing the Government against anyone who opposes him and the rise of politically motivated violence, most likely with Trump's approval, the United States is not safe for anyone. Not even Americans. Although I'm sure everyone in the rest of the world is saying we're getting what we deserve and experience massive schadenfreude. I'm sure the Native Americans are enjoying it, too. They would love to see the invaders wiped off the face of the Earth so they can take back what was stolen from them. The United States of America is like Scott Tenorman and Cartman is the world enjoying the taste of our tears. They feel nothing for us and if Iran retaliates and blows up the Empire State Building or Disney World or something like that, I think people in cities around the world will be laughing and dancing in the streets.
The United States will soon be nothing but a bad memory and the world will not miss it.

Given his involvement in January 6th 2021 Trump is the last person who should be accusing anyone of insurrection. That’s just hypocritical.
trump had control of the military for 4 years, if he wanted to do an insurrection he wouldn't of gotten a bunch of his unarmed followers to do it

Trump was not going to want an insurrection while he was in office. January 6th 2021 was about Trump’s belief that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 election. The events of January 6th 2021 did amount to insurrection.

even if trump did incite the protest, it was not an attempt to take control over the US government

If it wasn’t an attempt to overturn the election result, which is what it was clearly about, then what was it’s actual objective?

it was a protest against the election result, which was perceived to be fraudulent

Which is what I said. Trump believed that he was the rightful winner of the election and wanted to overturn what he perceived to be an unfair result. While,in fairness,it probably went further than he intended that doesn’t absolve him from responsibility for his involvement in it.

i think there's a difference between protestesting against an election result and trying to change the election result.

Ok that’s a valid point. However,Trump calls people protesting insurrectionists. Therefore, by his own understanding of the term he must also qualify as an insurrectionist.
