Switch 2 situation is crazy (from 3dspaint)

Hello everybody, long time no see eh?
Its everybodys favorite introverted paint dweller Kashbanooka.
Well maybe not everybody's...
Sorry about the title, I had to get you guys to click this blog somehow eh? Judging by the fact you're reading this I guess it worked! I've never written a blog like this so please be gentle with feedback, if I spread ANY misinformation please correct me. I HATE misinformation and tell me if you like this style of blogs from me it means a lot since I'm struggling with writing blogs at the moment.
Sit down, or if you're sitting then stand up and sit back down! its time to talk about some nintendo stuff.
First off the Nintendo Switch 2 got announced and now has its own direct. I'm sure you've seen it though so I'm not going to dive too far into it. I know that you know that I know that they know that
90$ is far too much for Mario Kart World. Now I'm not that big of a Mario Kart fan, I played 7 and occasionally Wii with friends so I'm not too versed in how truly graphically impressive or how much lore and planning there is in the Mario Kart lore to warrant it costing 90$. I don't know, maybe its deeper than I think but the issue still stands. Nintendo does what everybody...Ninten-don't...
On the flipside everybody does what Ninten-do. The jokes about Grand Theft Auto Six being 100$ may soon not be jokes.
Thats way too high for a video game and I feel like people need to be more aware of it, video games are for everyone! 90$ will add up to a lot eventually. Even more concerning is that I assume the prices will continue to rise! I don't want to have to sell my PS5, my right leg and the cat to buy the next Splatoon game. Some people are privileged enough to afford that and thats nice for them, but I'm not. Another thing! Paying to upgrade BOTW to the Switch 2 edition is stupid. The upgrade should be free, Tears Of The Kingdom was already 70$...
Now price aside the games they showed off looked really fun.
Especially Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Legends Z+A!
(I don't even like Pokemon and it looks fun...)
Breath of the Wild is also beautiful at 60 fps.
I'm not negative about the Switch 2, it looks great. I love 4k and 120 fps. (I'm sure no games will run at that but...I can dream okay!)
I want to know your thoughts about this whole thing.

Goodbye everybody.

I actually have written a blog post about my own thoughts and experiences with Switch 2 if you wish to hear more from me.

I will note the $90 thing was misinformation because of writers reading from EU prices and translating them for some reason. But the point still stands with Mario Kart at $80.

Also glad to see people agree that most people don't need this new system and games. As a buyer, I hope to share it with people so they don't need to buy it.

I agree with you on the price being far too expensive. I was already shocked at 60 for games on the Switch 1... It's utterly ridiculous and I personally won't be buying anything from them- I find older games to be better anyway.
However I haven't been able to convince my older brother not to buy the Switch 2, though I have been telling him to wait until they inevitably release some cheaper "Switch 2 Lite". I had the chance to hold my friend's Switch 2 and it really wasn't anything special at all. The screen's resolution was nice, I guess, but they still kept the black borders... I told my brother to wait because I feel like they might remove that in a new release and also fix the many many many bugs that are already being complained about...

Exactly. It also launched with nothing

These bits of info don't change either of our agreed assessments, but I think I should inform on a couple things regardless.

I presume the black borders are the bezel. They keep the system from being as fragile as modern phones these days. I can see why people would prefer the screen to cover the whole tablet, but you don't want to be crying that your $450 console breaks easily either. Plus the screen being big enough to cover the current size of the tablet would probably make the system extra expensive.

Another thing to note about the bugs. There might be something else your thinking of, but my guess is that you saw some of the compatibility issues with 3rd party games. Those are the result of games from Switch 1 running via a translation layer rather than emulation. It's faster because it isn't completely replicating the hardware to run games, but not all games will work well due to some inevitable gaps in the translation. It's actually similar to Proton which the Steam Deck uses to play games that only support Windows on Arch Linux. I believe they are being sorted out as they come, but we only started complaining about it when Nintendo decided to use it. Although, It's true that some games just won't be compatible or are selling new editions for Switch 2. That is probably the one thing I think is weird, but I presume those games are AAA stuff with DRM, Anti-cheat, or even just want people to buy the games again. Not a big issue as a mostly PC player.

I agree.

Ooh, thank you so much for all that information Benji! I'll definitely bring it up next time I talk about this with my friends :-P
