Sayings I Like:
"Every cloud has a silver lining"
we were born into this world kicking and screaming because it was the most painful thing we had experienced up until that point. It is our pain that makes us stronger, our ability to adapt is only there thanks to pain and suffering teaching us lessons. For whatever your going through, I promise it will only make you stronger in the end.
"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb"
While your family is important, currently I'm trying to learn that myself, choosing to be with someone is a lot more powerful of a statement than just happening to bumble into them due to chance. Nobody can choose their family, your born into wherever, whenever. But you still have the choice of who you interact with and while people can take away that right, you still like who you like and nobody can change that besides you. (Though they can certainly influence influence that)
"No pain, no gain."
If you don't feel uncomfortable or challenged by what you do in life, your not going the right way. Trust me, I spend almost 19 years of my life wasted in my room. Dead again, I still cherish my memories there, maybe not all of them, but the glimpses of light in the darkness are always the brightest.
"Anger is like flowing water; there's nothing wrong with it as long as you let it flow."I've been guilty of having my emotions repressed and suppressed for a long time. The school system is horrible at letting kids feel things and not be ridiculed for it. But I genuinely think that hatred and anger are good emotions for any healthy human. I myself and fueled by anger and envy, not to sound like an edgy teenager of course. But it's simply the most efficient fuel their is, hope bleeds out fast in the face of adversity, joy is tarnished by it too, but anger is the strongest emotion their is, because it is fueled by that very same adversity.
Sayings I DON'T Like:
"Work smarter, not harder"
Their are times where this can apply, and for a lot of useless activities it does. But their's also a lot that can be gained by taking the harder or tougher route. In Apandah's video he uses the example of buying a machine to churn butter instead of doing it yourself, but even in that example taking the longer route of doing it yourself provides benefits. Churning that butter yourself takes patience, strength, and endurance. And while that could possibly be better spent I believe that always taking shortcuts will leave you weaker in the end. Take this knowledge from me: A victory isn't satisfying because it's easy, its satisfying because it's hard.
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
As a general rule I believe not everyone should be treated equally. That might sound like the most barbaric thing ever, but hear me out. If someones being a jerk, an ass-hat, or generally mischievous, you can't let that slide. Dead again, if I was like them, I'd probably punch myself in the face, so maybe this quote has a little merit. But generally, it's best to just treat people however you think they should be treated, not how you would treat yourself.
"You can’t judge a book by its cover"
It's not always the case that a good book will have a good cover to match. But if you can't look into something like a cover or the first chapter and feel the passion inside of it, then generally it's not going to have that until the end. I have no idea what goes through writers head's that everything will suck until this big final climax that changes everything, but its weird like that. In a general sense I guess theirs some merit to this one as well, but generally I think it's not only possible to judge a book by it's cover, but you should.
“You have to believe in yourself when no one else does.”
You don't have to believe in yourself or even your abilities. Even if something is impossible, reach for it, chase whatever your looking for with a blind obsession. Even if you never see your goals, you should be happy you strived for what you wanted at all. Their have been a millions of people before you that never had the time or energy to chase something that made them alive. Thousands live today having given up for no reason at all other than their own belief that they cant. Even if you fail, you haven't failed until you've given up entirely and that's something only you can decide.
A general conclusion:
Thank you for reading, I hope at least one person got to the end, this ones a long one. Theirs no general conclusion I can come to from all of this and that's to be expected. What you just read is a collection of little bits of wisdom I've scrapped together throughout my life. ]
Another thank you to Apandah for inspiring me and being chill as fuck. Bro kept shit real and I aim to be the same.
