Anyways, I cleaned my room! Yes, it may be a very simple task, but god, it needed to be done. Since school is coming to an end, I've been busy working on my final assignments and studying for my exams. However, because of that, I haven't been able to take care of my own personal needs and the environment I live in. This had left my room a disaster, so I thought it was by time to clean it. Here are some before-and-after shots of my room.

As you can see, my room before was a complete mess! I had clothes all over my bed, paper all over the floor due to studying for my exams, and just random things on top of my vanity.

This honestly was very tiring and took me almost one whole hour to do; however, because the way I set up my room, it will never end up this messy ever again. I particularly added clear containers to my closet so that my bulky pants would no longer take up space in my drawers. Beforehand, my bulky pants would take up so much space that my other clothes at the bottom were impossible to get without rummaging and messing up everything. I also bought stick-on hooks to hang my bras and bags, so my wardrobe and my overall room wouldn't be cluttered with them. Additionally, I bought small, clean containers for my vanity so I could neatly organize and clean all the mess that was on top of it. And finally, I tidied my bed and my cupboard by throwing away the clpths I didn't need.



Challenges

Throughout cleaning my room, I found that I would often lose the motivation to continue because the mess was honestly overwhelming and felt impossible to clean. This caused me to take many pauses, which was probably the reason why my room took so long to tidy. I also struggled with deciding what to toss and keep, as I honestly wanted to keep everything, but things needed to go if I wanted to keep my room clean. As well, it felt like the mess grew as I cleaned, which was overwhelming and made me want to give up, but I pushed through, which was worth it because now my room is cleaner than ever before!


My Favourite Part

 My favourite parts about cleaning my was that I was able to discover things I thought I lost a long time ago. This brought me feelings of nostalgia and happiness as I was able to find things that were most important to me years ago. Also, everything has spots now, rather than somewhere on my bed, which is nice because I don't have to spend hours trying to find something important that I lost “somewhere in my room”.


What I Learned 
I’ve learned that cleaning my room can be surprisingly calming and a great way to relieve stress. It allowed me to drift my mind away from my daily stresses and put my attention on one activity. Especially now, as I’m constantly overthinking about my final summatives and exams, this task has helped shift my focus. It gave me a break and a sense of relief from feeling overwhelmed. As well, I noticed that I feel more put together and relaxed knowing that now I have a clean space to come home to.



Beforehand, the clutter in my room often left me feeling overwhelmed, and it made it hard to concentrate on other tasks. However, now that my room is clean, I find it is much easier to focus. This has made studying for my final exams significantly easier, as I'm no longer distracted or overstimulated by a chaotic environment. Often, when I am stressed about something, I come to my room to relax and relieve myself. But if my room were to be in a messy state, I would end up feeling much worse. Thus, it's important to know how to organize your personal environment to your needs, as it can foster a better state of mind and productivity. 


So yeah, cleaning my room turned out to be great as it allowed me to de-stress from my studies and be more productive. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, too, maybe try tidying up your space, you’d be surprised how much it can help!
