the phoenician scheme inital thoughts (!!NO SPOILERS!!)

i saw the phoenician scheme today on a complete impulse - i decided i wanted out my house n booked tickets within 10 minutes of each other. going in i had literally zero expectations none at all. all i knew was that it was a new wes anderson film w/ some action scenes. also ive never written a movie review before??? idk what im doing

here is my immediate thoughts from my notes app that i typed in the bathroom stall as soon as the movie ended cause i had to get my thoughts out somehow:

That has to be one of wes andersons best works. Ever. Holy fuck.

THE ACTING WAS PHENOMENAL esp Micheal Cera?? he has such range n I'm glad anderson but him in a slightly different role than he normal puts him in. Mia Threapleton was absolutely brilliant how have i never seen her in anything before??? Richard ayoade was born to be a Wes Anderson actor - i hope he gets to play a main character in one some day hed do great. 

The plot n themes?? woawhh. the religious theming throughout was done incredibly well. The action scenes were brilliantly shot too, and that last act omfg that last just ajagxydalbdeofkd it was great.

100% one of the weirdest wes andersons, which is saying something. but just ahayakwk wow that was so good. 

Similar ideas to the royal tenenbaums but like,, better. Well done. Fully baked. Fully realized. No weird adopted siblings incest or suprisingly brutal Luke Wilson bathroom scene (iykyk)."

so,, yeah - i liked it :) i think its clear that wes anderson is developing his craft n growing as an artist, which is really cool to see. i loved seeing his approach to action sequences. a lot of wes anderson films feel the same, but the really good ones, the really good ones all have something special about them that makes them stand out. this is one of those for sure.

i wandered online later to see that diehard wes anderson fans are butthurt that its not identical to all his other movies. but those guys r losers n i think the phoenician scheme was pretty good :) my immediate impulse walking out the cinema was "i need this on dvd" lmao

but dont take my word for it! go see it n form ur own opinion :)

I def wouldnnd it to everyone tho - but mannn its so fucking good n everyone should watch it any
