Now I have another reason to hate myself: an American Pope

Well, three weeks after the death of Pope Francis, the Vatican elected a new Pope today. His name was Robert Francis Prevost, but will be known as Pope Leo XIV. He will be the first pope born in the United States. While that might have brought me some sort of happiness in the past, I no longer feel any pride in being an American, as there is now a lot of stigma with being an American around the world. It's now a bad word and a bad thing. It also does not help that Darth Orangeass posted an AI image of himself as the Pope after Francis died. Cue the conspiracies about Trump paying the Vatican off to elect an American as pope. Also some of Pope Leo's views on women in the diaconate and homosexuality are not going to go over well with a lot of people.

And although he has lived 2/3 of his life outside the US(he lived in both Italy and Peru and also has Peruvian citizenship), and he's not a fan of Donald Trump as has been reported in some news outlets from his past tweets, he's still an American and there will always be a stigma associated with being born there. I wish I was born anywhere else, but I carry the curse of being American with me forever.

Hopefully the new pope will put a curse on Trump.
