A rant about dire wolfs and green washing

Even if i've never watched games of thrones nor had a peculiar interest in genetics the news about the "dexstintion" of the dire wolfs had a shocking strong effect on me. I still remember the feeling I had watching into their black soul eyes as they were exposed to the world as prodigies, a kind of sadness and empathy for them. Even if it didn't take me long to inform myself and learn of course that they were just grey wolf's whom their DNA got altered to have some dire wolf's characteristics and they just called it de-extiontion to attract the press, that only made my Interest for them grow. I read a couple of papers where the Colossal (the company that altered them) says that they coud have modified them even further to look more like dire wolfs but held back to not hurt the wolfs, but it's quite obvious that after all this attention to the press they could easily go overboard with them. The colossal already altered some rats to have them grow a red-brown ish fur to look like mammoth and from the claims I've heard they'll continue with bigger and bigger project. Other than that another thing that makes me sad is how in the front page of the Times they claimed that this research could help with dealing with endangered species, something I and many others totally disagree with. We should obviously focus on climate change and saving our future and the animals's future from all the damage that the 1%( aka the richest people on the planet) is actively doing. Recently between this news and the one about the all women trip to space the news keep hiding this problems from a climate or activist point when they absolutely lack of it. I honestly just wish that more people could see this issue.
