I have a foster kitten that has a blood lust for buttholes.
He will seek out the buttholes of other kittens and suck on them constantly. And it might sound funny but having a butthole vampire is actually a huge deal.
This shit happens sometimes, mainly with orphaned kittens. Suckling is a soothing action for kittens (just like kneading is), and sometimes when they are removed from their source of comfort for a long time (like the mother dies), they sometimes seek out that comfort and suckle on other objects. This usually goes away when a surrogate mother or a foster human comes in to give regular feedings and offer a time to suckle, but occasionally the addiction to suck has already set in and no amount of feeding will curb the behavior.
Oftentimes, a serial sucker will venture to other warm, fuzzy bodies of their siblings, and eventually find the genitals. The genital area on kittens have very little hair and kind of protrudes a bit - not unlike a nipple. So this area is often a favorite for sucklers. Generally, it is the male organ that suffers since it more closely resembles a test. But it can be the anus or both that are targeted.
I unfortunately have an anus sucker on my hands. Don't get me wrong, both anus and genital suckers are bad - it is painful and stressful to the recipient, causes inflammation and sores, and makes elimination difficult. But anus suckers have an additional issue; it can cause tears to the sphincter, making the kitten pass blood along with feces. Injury to the sphincter is terrible for such a young animal that is immunocompromised - it is impossible to keep clean. Not to mention, it becomes very difficult to pass stool and can lead to constipation; a slight issue in most animals, but deadly in neonates.
So, Butt Sucker is in Butt Sucker Jail for Kittens that Suck Butts. But that lies it's own problems; lone kitten syndrome (or is it single kitten syndrome? I can't recall) but that deal is for another time.
