Did you know legal slavery is still a thing in the states!!!

Cuz I didn't till just now don't believe me? Well read it for yourself (crazy part is this is the amendment that was meant to end slavery and the next amendment isn't much better as it too makes reference to slavery as a legal thing)

"

Amendment XIII

Passed by congress January 31, 1835. Ratified December 6, 1865. Note: a portion of article IV, section 2, of the constitution was superseded by the thirteenth amendment

Section 1.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

And there it is crazy right? Maybe you don't think so cuz the exception to the rule is criminals so let me remind you of the many things you can be convicted for such crimes include tax evasion, piracy, and here's a real wake up call driving a car without a seat belt, or while on your phone, driving a motorcycle with no helmet, speeding, and also jaywalking now don't get me wrong these laws have their place but under the current law if you violate one of these inaknowledgable offenses the state has the right to sell you off as a slave does that maybe put things into perspective how crazy this law is? And again this is supposed to be the law that ends slavery!

Oh yeah, I already knew of this. A lot of people also don't know that a LOT of prisons in the south "used to be" plantations before the civil war. Guess what they have the slaves- er- I mean "prisoners" doing now? There sure are a lot of fields of cotton outside of those prisons...

its ez for folks to brush off the legality of slavery when it specifically applies to nyone guilty of crime, but as we've seen recently the law can shift n change (or just b flat out dismissed) pretty rapidly n @ any moment it could b YOU who is no longer the law abiding citizen who gets thrown into prison

historically speaking, legality doesnt always equate to morality
