dionysus E-shrine

Dionysus e-shrine and also a guide if your looking to start <3

Drugs and alcohol very much aren't necessary to worship Dionysos. Obviously they have their place, but they're optional. Don't feel bad about avoiding them.

If you're totally new to worshipping ANY deities, then I'd start very simple. You can always just pray aloud or in your head, but the content is going to vary based on what you're praying for. It doesn't have to be complex or follow any sort of rules though as long as its sincere.

If you're looking for something slightly more structured, a really basic ritual for Dionysos could look like this:

1] Purify yourself in some way (For me, this just means washing my hands and clearing my head.)

2] Put out an offering in a small dish/glass. Water, milk, olive oil, and honey are all traditional offerings for Greek gods. Grapes and grape juice are also great choices for Dionysos. (But seriously, water is my go-to, it can stay simple).

3] Say a prayer of some kind. It can be as short as "please accept this water (or other offering) as a sign of my appreciation" or as long as you want.

4] After some length of time, dispose of the offering. For liquids, poured outside is best, but pouring it down a clean sink is also fine. The amount of time is completely up to you. Five minutes, an hour, overnight, whatever feels best.

If you choose to follow Dionysos more seriously, I strongly suggest doing more research so you know more about how He was worshipped specifically. However I know thats a lot of effort especially if you're not certain you'll be worshipping Him long term, so I hope this helps!

You don't need an altar to pray. Just sit quietly, take a few deep breaths, then visualize Dionysus and mentally ask for his blessings and help. Or, if it suits you better, you can dance while visualizing Dionysus and sweat your prayers to him.

Prayer isn't a machine where you put a prayer in and get a response out, it isn't so linear. It's about forging a relationship with that deity. You will know they are paying attention when you start seeing their symbols more frequently (you may start really noticing grape vines, grapes, or wine bottles in your environment for example).
