(rant) i can't stand twitter/X anymore + I hate Elon

I know this is a very popular take but I'd just like to ramble abt it :,)

I feel like Twitter is one of the best examples of 'dead internet theory'. I'll read a post, be curious about what other people think of it, I'll open the replies, and it's just bots or people trying to make money with engagement bait. No genuine human input. I have to scroll forever to see real ppl sharing their thoughts, and usually there are very few.

Same with engagement bait tweets in general, I hate how often ppl do it and I hate how often ppl fall for it. You're giving them exactly what they want when you quote retweet them, stop doing it plz.

To be fair, this is usually only the case with "trending" posts or posts that aren't from ppl I follow. Making mutuals and becoming part of a small community online was the main thing keeping me on the site.

The final straw for me was the frequency with which I'd come across the most abhorrently racist people. Like people saying things that I wouldn't even be able to come up with. Legit nazis. And they have a ton of likes and everyone in their comments agrees with them and shares equally fucked up beliefs. They have their own little communities where they just circle-jerk each other.

I understand that racist people will always find somewhere to be racist but this isn't 4chan or Kiwi Farms, this is Twitter, a mainstream social media pillar, normal people should not be able to see this type of content so easily, unprompted.

I feel like it goes without saying I hate Elon in general. I've disliked him for a while, since before 2020 at least. My hatred for him has been growing steadily over the years.

I think even if I loved Twitter I would still refuse to use it just based on how much I hate Elon now LOL I don't want make that man any money
