For once, I'm flabbergasted and I need some help. All sides welcome, I need as much information as I can get. UPDATED 3/23/25

Good morning from Central standard time, I need y'all's help with something because I'm EXTREMELY lost on what to do. So this morning I was told to move the totars back to where we keep them, no big deal for me since I do this every week. But when I walked out, I looked at my neighbors lawn and noticed they had 2 flags up. Now I knew the American flag because, well I'm an American so it's quite normal for me to see it when I look around. But there was a second flag, and to my horror it was a Confederate flag. Now, I'm not gonna talk to the neighbors about it since like it's not my business [also I'm scared of one of them since he has committed pretty serious crimes before]. But I don't know if I should really feel SAFE near them. I will say that I am a white person who isn't open about their political preferences [since I don't have any], but I have an openly transgender older brother and I have a mother who's open about her beliefs [norse pagan]. Not to mention my other neighbors have kids of multiple different ethnic groups, and a woman who's mixed. So I'm not sure how they feel about the GLARINGLY obvious confederate flag in their neighbor's yard, but I can image that they are NOT happy. But I also heard that some people use it as a symbol of southern culture, so I'm really lost on how to feel and I'm reaching out to spacehey for answers. I'll take anything, I just need some kind of closure. I don't give a damn if you're Republican, Democrat, or in another country entirely. I need answers and I will take anything, I am not picky on where I get it from. Hell I am open to anything as long as you're respectful and not threatening me, so please don't be afraid to speak your mind in my comments.

UPDATE: so yesterday evening me and my family ran some errands and my brother pointed out that the Confederate flag was taken down from my neighbor's yard. I have to say that I'm very relieved that the flag has been taken down, I am all for self expression but I cannot condone racism. Thank you for reading this update!
