(maybe) controversial take

MIGHT be a really controversial take guys but i think pedophiles should have sort of rehab centers or like institutions specialized with pedophilia. i dont think that pedophilia should be more stigmatized than any other serious mental disorder because pedophilia is also a very serious mental illness and i just feel like there isnt that much help for it as readily available as help for other serious mental issues. NOT that i think people who have harmed children in any way should be handled any less harshly, i just think that people who HAVENT harmed children yet or just dont want to harm children but do suffer from pedophilia should be helped like any other person. i think that alot of unfortunate people who do happen to suffer with pedophilia and who want to get better dont know where to turn to since its so frowned upon in our society --as it should be-- but i think that as long as they havent done anything harmful yet, as long as they want to get better, they should get the chance to. that doesnt mean that i support pedophilia. i think that alot of people dont know what to do with their attraction and decide to bury it and ignore their illness which never leads to anything good. any teenager or adult who experiences attraction towards minors should get the chance to try and change and be better. im sure they didnt choose to be the way they are and im also sure they arent happy with the way they are either. can you imagine waking up one day to realise you can never have a functioning healthy relationship with someone your own age? i just find it sad that alot of people repress things like that only for them to eventually burst and do something they normally wouldnt have done. then again, things like pedophilia SHOULDNT have pride flags either, its a mental illness and shouldnt be romantisized in any way. NO mental illness should have a pride flag, actually. its something people suffer from. thats why i think the NOMAP pride flags or any other mental illness pride flags like anxiety or OCD shouldnt exist at all. not that im trying to say that they should be HATED or OSTRASIZED because of the illness that they have, rather that they shouldnt go around parading it since alot of people suffer greatly from those illnesses. Final summary: pedophiles shouldnt be as shunned as long as they havent done anything harmful and instead should be helped and cared for like any other mentally ill person.
