Democratic Socialism

For quite a while now I have been interested in the subject of socialism specifically democratic socialism. I've done lots of research on the DSA and whatnot and read a bit of Karl Marx however I would like to have a discussion with people on how other people feel about it. Many modern day people alike it to communism, but I see democratic socialism as not close to the dictatorship led and tyrannical nations of communism we have seen before.
