So to start this off I am a muslim, I am a poc (biracial). It is the month of Ramadan (Ramadan Mubarak!).
I have been having this issue where I never seem to get along with my other islamic brothers and sisters. I feel like they judge me and think that I am a convert but I am not (very much 100% muslim)
Why does it say in the Qur'an during ramadan that we should not gossip but some still be hateful, honestly.
This all came about bc I was asking for advice on TikTok (I know it is TikTok what do you expect lol) . But I was lost and wanted some answers from the muslim side of tiktok. I was asking JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY if we could smoke after we broke the fast for the day. I have looked it up on google and it said after you have broken your fast then you can eat and go back to your normal activities. But people on TikTok made me seem like I was the devil asking this question.
One lady kindly answered me saying she suggests not just because that is her opinion. I guess it all depends on the person...??
Then a few hours later I opened TikTok and see a few other comments and they are like "are you fr?", "is this real?". Like yes... why are you judging me? isn't it stressed enough when you go to the mosque too help your brothers an sisters out and not judge?? To help them go to the right path?
I distanced myself from the islam practices for some time bc of people like this in the community. Judgmental. I have just never felt accepted even though I am 100% muslim and yes I do smoke/vape. SO do other muslims??? so im not understand why im getting such back lash.
this is not a hate post or anything like that. I am just expressing my honest opinion. I love being muslim and I love the practices that they teach from the Qur'an. But the people of the community do not make me feel like I shall practice islam any longer.
pls no hate comments.

I'm a Christian and haven't studied the Quran enough to give you a direct answer, but I think if the hate is coming from fellow Muslims, it's probably because people are quick to judge things that seem outside the norm, and maybe your honest question struck a nerv. But I would suspect some of it is coming from non-Muslims, and maybe also folks who oppose smoking entirely. I personally believe we have a duty to take care of our bodies so we shouldn't do things we know are only providing harm to our bodies, but it does seem fairly common within predominately Muslim cultures to smoke, so I don't know where the hate is coming from, unless leisurely pleasures are entirely prohibited during Ramadan?
I wish you all the best!
Hello thank you for your response!
I'm pretty sure in islam is the same.. No smoking whatsoever because it is harmful for you but I just wasn't sure because I know some Muslims who smoke (hookah)
I don't know anymore lol I heard many responses from many different people any every response is different

Perhaps you should pray about it and talk to people in your local community? :)

basically you shouldn't have to get foreign substances in your body when you're fasting. thats why this questions answer has seemed very obivous. and smoking itself is not very welcomed, not haram but not helal either. and next time, you could even ask it to an ai instead for a logical answer rather than others on social media. they can take it very personal while answering your question.
Yeah and I get that I was just ignorant I guess. I did not know that it was not really welcome because of hookahs/shishas.

Judging and hating are human traits unfortunately, not muslim traits, so dont feel less comfortable in your religion because some muslims are not kind to you.
Now the thing is smoking is not allowed at all so asking to smoke may cause some confusion. Thats why they reacted like that. Maybe you should consider to stop smoking for the sake of your believe and health. Its your choice in the end so do as you wish as long as you are comfy with it. Ramadan mubarak.
Thank you for your feedback! I will take it into consideration.
