help on overcoming a toxic friendship from the past

this is my second blog today lmao but anyways...

i had a best friend from 2023 until 2024 december and it was a toxic one which lasted a toll on me since i really loved them in a platonic way. they did manipulation, gaslighting, talking behind my back, lying, using my problems against me and just stuff a friend shouldn't do.

now they did have a really hard time over the year with family, financially and all which is why i always used the excuse with "they are going thru alot now which is why they act this way" typa sh, but if i start getting triggered from her problems too, then of course it has to end at some point or take a different turn.

who else had similar experience and how yall dealt with it? i have been having problems with that despite being a person who moves on fast on things or starts forgetting it.
