I'm now forever ashamed to be an American. I've felt this way since 2003 when George W. Bush illegally invaded Iraq, but now I know, by electing a total fascist who tried to overturn an election and is weaponizing the Government, the United States is completely irredeemable. I know many people around the world are boycotting Americans goods and services and cancelling their trips to the USA. But as far as I'm concerned, boycotting is not good enough. I hope that the boycott includes all American pop culture such as movies, television, music, books, video games, etc. And the boycott needs to be retroactive. If you own anything made the USA(like an iPhone or a copy of an American movie), throw it out. But again, boycotting the Great White Satan is not good enough. Every nation in the world needs to sever all ties with the United States. Permanently. That means Canada, Mexico, UK, the EU, Japan, Russia, China, Brazil, India and the whole world needs to put a permanent embargo on the United States. That means all overseas companies need to close their American branches and every country needs to remove all American companies and never do any business with them ever again.
The sporting world also needs to punish the USA and remove the 2026 World Cup from the US and the 2028 Olympics from Los Angeles. The USA also should not allowed to participate in these events. And Americans must not be allowed to even attend or even view these events on television.
Also, no Americans should be allowed into other countries and they should demand all Americans living in your country be deported. Maybe take their children away from their parents and put them in cages. See how they like it. If you have family living in the US, demand they come home immediately and end your friendships with any Americans you may know. All Americans need to be harassed, discriminated and excluded just because they're American. Even if they didn't vote for Trump, like I did not, all Americans are guilty by association, just like all Germans were after World War II.
Even when Donald Trump is gone, even if a Democrat or non-Republican becomes President again, it is too late for the United States to redeem itself in the eyes of the world. This nation can NEVER be trusted ever again. All Americans are your enemy and deserve nothing but hatred and scorn, forever. The United States is the greatest threat to world peace and is also an evil violent, genocidal empire and has been before it even existed. This land is not our land. From now on, the word American is a bad word and a bad thing. The world must come together in one voice and shout "DEATH TO AMERICA!". The world will be better off without us.
Ward Churchill was right. All Americans are Little Eichmanns.

repeat that again, all Germans are guilty for what hit*** did? is every brit guilt for the years of colonization and destroying cultures? is every country that ever had slavery citizens guilty for it too? there are countries where child marriage is CURRENTLY legal, is every citizen to blame? japan committed atrocities to china during WWII also well, had their own a****-like concentration camps, is every current citizen to blame? its a sad world we live in where most countries are built on a horrific past. this is too simple of an idea that every person living in a country is responsible for its decades old past.
not to mention that we DO LEARN FROM THESE MISTAKES. germanys education is built to teach students extensively the horrors of the Holocaust, although the system in the usa is very flawed, i was taught and shown extensively the horrors of slavery, native American erasure, and war crimes like Nagasaki/Hiroshima. nobody is proud of their countries past and even a place as plastic as america teaches its students this history.
im all for critiquing America, and there is a BIG conversation about how our society functions and its flaws (such as the history you are mentioning) but this post reads as if america is the only country in the wrong.
unfortunately nobody can just BOYCOTT America. so much of our economy and military is tied to so many smaller/bigger countries, a fall of america would lead to a domino effect. we are too far now for that option. I understand your frustration is in good taste BELIEVE me but you are seeing this very black and white. this is a conversation with multiple sides and by trashing america you have somehow found a way to trash other non-related countries... please reconsider your thoughts!!
The reason I say that all Germans were guilty for H-tler is because they were made to be. There are images of the Allies making German civilians walk through the death camps and having them bury the victims of the Holocaust. Remember, they democratically elected the N@zis to power. And we did the same with Trump and the GQP, even though I consider the US Government as illegitimate and we need to go 1776 on their ass.

Hey so... I agree with you for some aspects like boycotting brands and everything, but you have to remember it isn't everyone who voted Trump, people who feel the same way about this whole situation as us. Sure, I like making jokes about americans when I'm with friends, but completely rejecting anything to do with americans won't help at all. There are people who try to help marginalized groups in the US, who rely on our help to push their videos and maybe donate some money.
As for the 'severing all ties with americans, even if they didn't vote for Trump', that's imo just not a cool thing to do? I'm German, so are my parents and my grandparents, and their parents too. I won't say something like 'Oh yeah, my great-grandparents were trying to stop it' but I know that that's not true, both of my great-grandfathers had to fight in the war, my great-grandma was probably too young to understand why her jewish best friend wasn't there anymore(I don't know if they took her or if she managed to escape). I know my ancestors were guilty, my parents however are not. While the whole stigma has now minimized and people don't directly harrass me with the salute or execlude me from things because of m nationality, my parents had to deal with it. My mother was an exchange student in france. The other kids wouldn't talk to her and exclude her from everything because of the actions of her ancestors. My best friend did an exchange in france too, one girl always did the salute when she saw her and yelled 'S!eg H3il!'. My best friend is of course very much against politically right stuff and felt extremely uncomfortable with her nationality.
I think we shouldn't punish people for something they had no control over as it's not their fault their parents for example made a mistake, or maybe they voted for Kamala? Just remember that a lot of people are just as unhappy with the current situation as everyone else with a brain is.

Hey man... Not to be that person, but uh... I kinda don't think it's my fault I was born in the United States?? I hate it as much as the next person, but it's kinda not fair that you're saying I'm a terrible person for existing as an american-born human. Like by your logic, no matter if I have no pride in being American and have wanted to leave since I was able to talk pretty much, I still deserve to be tortured because I was born here. Also, the "guilty by association" thing is utterly insane overall and disgusting to think about. I just dont think what you're saying is fair, even though it's kinda what America does to other countries in a sense, and of course it's not fair at all in that instance either.
NozomiKaizoku
I really do apologize for sound like a dick right now, I'll agree with a lot of what you are saying.
But I'm gonna tell you right now that a boycott of any kind does not and will not work, especially at this scale.
As much as it is horrific to see the state that the US is in and as someone who is completely opposed to the government's extremely stupid decisions on a lot of things, a boycott will barely make any difference (if at all), especially when you consider how the economics for goods in any corporate situation works.
Let's use McDonalds as an example.
See, for every one person that chooses to stop eating at McDonalds, there's always going to be 10 or more people who will either be loyal customers or new customers who will eat there.
This is because not everyone's going to have the same opinions on McDonalds as the next person over, regardless of any recent controversies that McDonald's has gotten themselves into. Some people do not care about the drama and just want to have lunch closest to their house or work place. Some people don't have better options, whether is sensory wise or financially, among with other reasons. Some people might have bad experiences with other franchises and heavily prefer McDonalds over other places like Wendy's or Burger King. The list goes on.
Trying to force people into choosing a different options when these contrasting beliefs are present often can lead to conflict, which can turn people away from the cause you're trying to promote, and may contribute to more people going to McDonald's purely out of spite for this movement, because you made a fool of yourself.
Of course, a lot of what I just said differs depending on the specific companies, people and/or their reputations, but you get the general idea, a boycott would not work because there will always be someone to replace the ex-customer.
Also, what makes you think that you can just "cancel" an entire country that's been around since the 1780s? it's impossible.
Countries with horrible governments (sometimes worse than us) have done really awful thing to both their own people other countries for as long as they have existed, yet they're still around, often thriving, and if it were possible to "cancel" a country, The US wouldn't even exist because the UK would be gone by now, along with the other countries in question. What do you even consider an "unproblematic" country anyway? Japan or some shit?
Reading through your entire post and some of your replies, it seems like you are a very radical leftist who thinks that doing "activist" movements that will not work regardless of how you do it or forcing people to join extreme movements that damage the progressive movement's reputation is going to do anything about what's going on in America right now. It's just political immaturity.
The US will continue to gain support even with the shitty government we have, America will continue to get away with what they're doing because of their high social standing, and with ideologies like yours that I say are just as bad as Trump's (if not worse), you know damn well nobody's gonna listen, especially nobody on the opposite side of the political poll.
Immature shit like this is why I became a centrist; because trying to stoop to the same low as the opposite political party is will only contribute to the division of our country and give trump an advantage in controlling us, and after seeing the effects of both radical leftism and conservatism, I say it's a waste of our time if nobody can agree on anything. It's like divorced parents, but worse.
If there's one lesson from my mom that I will always remember, it's this:
You can't change stupid.
If you REALLY want to contribute to anything meaningful, I say start off small, like volunteering for or donating to the causes you care about. Sign petitions, go to protests, whatever you can do. Just stop posting bullshit like this that won't do anything except make you look like a dumbass.
Thank you, you have a good night.
Also, I hope you know that America (as shitty as it is) is considered one of the most powerful countries in the world and has the most powerful military to date, and anyone would just get annihilated trying. So! 🍿

This is probably the first time I see my thoughts explained so well by someone else, but I think that boycotting can still work on a really large scale and in some specific cases (for example I agree with you on mcdonalds, but it definitely worked with tesla, even if not by a lot, and even if elon had to do something really extreme in order to deserve it)
by Nicolas; ; Report
I guess you're right about that, but all I'm trying to say that this whole "boycotting" thing doesn't really work, especially with the way customer loyalty works in all kinds of franchises big and small.
Idk, I'm just tired of people constantly arguing over politics knowing damn well it's only just gonna divide our country more than what's needed, giving the rich elites an advantage over us.
Glad that someone agrees though!

It's not as powerful as we think. It's not invincible. If China were to declare war on us, we'd lose simply because they outnumber us more 4 to 1. The days of American global hegemony are over. We are no longer the only one.

why condemn everyone and everything when it's only a few who are the problem? The issue lies in the infrastructure (social, political, civil, etc) more than anything.
"A few people" aka the whole military, CIA, FBI, the whole political system, the Congress, the president, the governors, the mayors, the "polarized" politics where the most leftist ideology is LIBERALISM, majority of the population (because being a liberal is basically being a nazi with glitter)... And the other half that is not in the categories I just mentioned, are just like you, not doing anything relevant like organizing politically and, actually, being the "not all men" but country version.
by Maiden Death; ; Report
Omg... I made such a generic comment that you could not possibly know who I'm actually talking about, plus this article is literally written to incite people, but okay, I'll engage. Firstly, this people that you mentioned? They are very much "the few", despite them also being the ones with the majority of the power. That is a fact. Also, yes, liberalism is still on the right of the political spectrum and happens to be the most radical political ideology in this country. Wow!! Good job paying attention in school :)
And I wasn't being "not all men", I was talking about the people who follow actual leftist ideology and those that are tolerant and flexible, you know, use actual critical thinking. I will admit, pretty naive of me to think that those types of people are the majority, you're likely right about the actual majority.
Also, how is being liberal a bad thing? (no, genuine question, because we clearly are using two completely different definitions of it, and I want to know yours)
Great job assuming my political leanings and mindset and age I guess? How would you know if I was doing anything relevant, or organizing politically? Do you even know if I'm capable of it in the first place (aren't you just assuming I'm an American in the first place)? What are YOU doing?

The infrastructure to which your first comment refers is the product of humans' work. You can't condemn the infrastructure without also condemning the individuals who created and accepted it, that is to say, the majority of the population. Therefore, social, political and civil infrastructure is not some kind of mystical entity; rather, they have name, they live or lived in Earth, they can be pin-pointed. The person who made the original blog may be engaging in a form of provocation, however, I have not observed this type of counteraction against an individual who expresses anger towards their own nation due to the violence it has perpetrated against its own citizens and other communities. He has the right to hold a deep sense of animosity towards the USA, given that the nation's very existence is a consequence of a historical legacy characterised by violence.
The leftest left in the USA is still barely smart enough. All the countries around the world have more of a organised socialist community than the United States.
Liberalism, as I said, is capitalism with glitter. None of the followers of this ideology want to destroy the root that causes people to suffer. They say they believe in freedom of speech, but this freedom also includes hate speech. All this freedom has a cost, usually for the minorities, and they never can retaliate because they're deemed bad people when they do so.
Have you ever heard of inference? We always have a underlined, implicit line of thought, that is ingrained in other discourses that we partake in. Usually, people that have the mindset of "not all (insert a specific social group here)" don't organize politically. I should have made myself more clear on my statement: Trump supporters are politically organized, gangsters are politically organized, the mob as well. But anyone who is associated with socialist political groups wouldn't be mad at someone, at anyone for that matter, for being desperate and distressed by how the king of capitalism makes everyone bounded to suffering.
I didn't assume you were from the United States. I used you as an example of the other half of the US population, which is not the same thing.
I won't engage more with you, as it is not helpful in any way for any cause to debate via social media something so important.

I completely agree with your first paragraph. The entire point of my comment was to question why their phrasing was so inflammatory, but it was worded pretty vaguely and didn't come across as such. It was never my intent to disregard or question their perspective. I also happen to agree with a lot of what OP said.
This is where location comes into play. I've definitely lived in more progressive parts of the United States, and have had the pleasure of encountering people who fall into the "not all" category I was talking about. That's right, I'm not American, but I've lived the majority of my life in America, while still having a connection to other parts of the world.
I can safely say that all the countries around the world DO NOT have an organized socialist community, because actually socialist countries do not exist, and no country that is leaning there as far as I'm aware is actually doing a good job upholding those values. Also, you cannot make that generalization because you haven't met every person in this country, nor can you say that you've lived in all sorts of politically diverse places.
Aha! I wasn't talking about liberalism. I only mentioned being liberal, not being "a liberal". But I can agree with your statement, which is also why liberalism is a relatively right wing ideology, is it not?
Inferencing and assuming are two sides of the same coin.
I mean, I'm definitely not an extremist, if that's what you're saying is required to politically organize. Also, yes, I don't politically organize in the usual sense, because that would endanger me in ways that I'm not ready for in the vulnerable position I'm in. But I'm vocal.
I wasn't angry with them though? I was questioning why they chose to communicate their distress by condemning all and actually polarizing everyone instead of promoting people to understand their perspective.
It's actually a well know fact of human psychology that people respond to fear cues and negative directives and wording, well, negatively. So it was very counterintuitive to communicate such a powerful feeling and perspective in such an unimpressive and antagonistic manner.
How could you use someone as an example of something that you aren't even sure they're like? The reason for my initial response WAS because of those gross over assumptions. So, it's not the same thing, but still worthy of criticism because that's just but something you do if you can help it?? Luckily I do, and that's how I know for a fact that you too cannot fully be aware of what I'm aware of, just like I can't fully be aware of what you're aware of. We live completely different lives and have had completely different experiences.
Yes, I agree, this is not the best place to have such discussions. I will say, my wording in my first reply wasn't the best. Ultimately though, I really don't think we're that ideologically different, but that these were misunderstandings.
Side note though, it isn't good to use stereotypes to assume genders.

wow this is prob one of the most extreme things I've ever read lmaoo. 'Guilty by Association' is a disgusting thing to say, especially with Germans. I don't think you get how many people were fighting for a democrat win. Or how many people (americans) are terrified of what he's going to do to the country and how it will/is destroying people. The country is being run by a very small group of rich white dudes, and blaming the entire US population for those guys' actions is just stupid. I suggest you watch vids from channels like Luke Beasely, The Humanist Report, Walter Masterson, and Vaush. They may provide a logical outlook on feelings similar to yours.
False. The United States is irredeemable in the eyes of the world. And our entire country's history is built on violence, destruction, genocide, racism and sexism. This country will never change and the only option now is to end the country. Dissolve it into 10 smaller nations, much like the Soviet Union. All empires fall. It's just our turn.

Man, I agree with everything you said. I live in Brazil, and Brazil is getting worse and worse because the United States sanctions us and literally prevents us from growing as a country. People go hungry, I go hungry, Brazil cries. Only the rich benefit. I've been unemployed for years, just surviving. If the United States were taken down, the world would be a better place.

As a german i have to agree that "Guilty by Association" is from the ground up wrong. If we were, then no one would have allowed us to even join NATO in the 60s. Let alone have an independent government.
Also, the post itself says that Americans are seen as "crazy" to the world. Wrong. I have friends in the USA. They're good people, by heart. I firmly believe that all people have some good in them no matter how little. And just because you have a certain nationality or place of residence does not automatically make you anything.
