worst movie ever!!

hey guys, it’s emily :p i just watched Emilia Pérez, arguably the most controversial movie of 2024, and… wow. i went in with the lowest expectations possible, and somehow, it still managed to disappoint me. for a film that could have been a deep, meaningful exploration of its protagonist, Emilia Pérez gives us no insight into her relationship with womanhood. instead of actually developing her character, we get the most surface level, uninspired approach imaginable. the lack of chemistry between any of the characters made every interaction feel kinda awkward.

and let’s talk about the music, if you can even call it that... the songs were so dumb and out of place that I genuinely felt secondhand embarrassment. the lyrics? terrible. the singing? questionable at best. the entire soundtrack felt like something straight out of south park. what’s even worse is how the movie tries (and fails) to address serious issues. it ends up feeling like a parody, and the portrayal of mexican culture? it was concerning. 

i’m giving it one star, purely because i laughed at how ridiculous it was, and because Zoe Saldaña actually did a decent job. but other than that? this movie was an absolute train wreck. what did you guys think? let me know if you somehow enjoyed it. luv u!!
