I finished reading Metropolis a few days ago, I started in December at my boyfriend's recommendation, and it was his copy that I read. More seasoned individuals will recognize that Fritz Lang made a movie of this book in 1927!

I was first interested in reading the book due to its historical context, as it was one of the few books not banned or burned by the Nazis despite its revolutionary themes due to it being one of the Furher's favourites. Unfortunately, it seems his puny brain didn't grasp the book's ultimate meaning.
I found the book a little hard to understand at first and it wasn't until I was about one-fourth through the book til the pieces started to come together in my mind, nonetheless, I really enjoyed it!
The message of working together to overcome dictatorship to achieve quality between classes was just what I was in the mood for and I think really applies to the modern world today. The imagery is beautifully described and the characters felt very vibrant to me alongside the chugging cityscape of Metropolis and the tower of New Babylon.
Truly a great read and I think anyone should read it alongside Orwell's 1984 and Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451! However, knowledge of the Bible is definitely helpful as it references multiple stories, fables and various characters.
I rate 8/10!
