are you trans and living in the u.s.? keep reading if you are. if you aren't? read the last paragraph.
well, its official. life for us is gonna be hell for the next 4 years, maybe even indefinitely. especially if you're young, poor, unable to leave the states, or all of the above, it's gonna be hard. but this is not the time to give up and accept what has been given to us. if no one will help us we must help ourselves.
if you cannot organize, then join queer groups online or offline. if you cannot do that, then support those who can. but regardless of your privilege you have to keep living and you cannot stop living as your true self. going into hiding will make them think their methods were successful and they cannot succeed in their fucked up plans for this country. take precautions. surround yourself with safe people. push forward.
if you are cis and reading this, you need to be an ally to trans people around you. you automatically have more privilege than them in the sense that you are not trans, and in this day and age your stance on trans rights won't be taken seriously unless you're not trans. so you really need to be uplifting trans and queer voices around you and being as much of an ally as possible.
we will get through this. it will be hard and we will lose many of our friends. but we must not give up and we must stay strong.
