holy shit they did it

They actually banned tik tok. (gonna prewarn everyone now: this might end up being a long ass entry)

I'm actually still in shock. For anyone not aware, tik tok has been banned in the US as of January 18th around 10:30 EST. Around 8:30 EST last night (the 18th) American users got a pop that basically said that the bill had been put into place and soon the app would no longer work. Then 2 hours later American users got a pop up telling them that the app can no longer be used in the US and the only option was to close the app. DO NOT switch to Red Note. If they were able to get rid of tik tok because the company running it (Bytedance) is from china then what makes you think they wont up and ban every social media that is operated outside the US. Rednote is not safe and if they want they CAN ban it just like they did tik tok. This ban was not about tik tok. They are trying to silence the people and take away our voices. Tik tok was the number one app for spreading news and information. You don't see stuff like that on Instagram and other apps. Now yes I am sure that part of the reason for the ban was for it being run in china, however it is also a way to keep us disconnected from each other. They don't like the fact that we have a way to get information around quickly especially when it comes to stuff about the government. If something were to happen, without tik tok there isn't much of a way to get a LOT of people to know about it. Sure there are apps like Instagram and twitter and whatnot but none of those compare to how big tik tok was and how fast word got around. That and using Meta/Elon Musk apps right now really isn't the best direction to go anyways. If tik tok does come back because of Trump DO NOT use it!! Everyone needs to remember that it was trump who even started this whole thing. He wanted it banned back in 2020 and now that it is banned he is going to try to bring it back so he gain sympathy of the masses. No not fall for it. This is also what a certain German painter did in 1933. He banned and burned books that didn't have the same beliefs as him and his followers  and promised all these different things to the people who followed him so he could gain sympathy of the masses. if you can't already see it then its time to open your damn eyes and see the kind of person Trump is. He already has tons of crazy and unbelievable plans for when he gets into office. He can and will get rid of everything that makes him out to be a bad guy. Just the same way a certain German painter did. He is quite literally trying to change the constitution so he can serve longer as president. If you cant see it you NEED to open your eyes and see that our economy and country is crumbling. It is past the time to sulk around and get upset. Its time to get angry, get loud, and try to do something before history repeats itself again. I really try to stay away from politics and stuff but I think its time I stop doing that. Sitting around and doing nothing won't change anything. I know it is unlikely that anyone would be able to change anything that's happening right now but that doesn't mean we aren't allowed to try.
