yapping abt tt :p reply

I couldn't give less of a crap abt tiktok, never used it and never liked it but governments being able to ban social platforms on the grounds of "we dont like it, think about the kids!" is a slippery slope. Its not china or north korea bad but its a step in the wrong direction and stuff like this sets precedent for further bans of more egregious stuff.

Even if you hated tiktoks guts you shouldn't be cheering abt this, even if you still think the tiktok ban isn't a slight against our rights our governments are wasting time and money on frivolous shit like this instead of doing something important.

hi!! although im not from the US my country was thinking about something similar and im super glad they didn't go through with it. its just a weird turn of events that theyre just able to ban something as big as tiktok, especially when there are people who make their rent by posting on there, with no input from US citizens. crazy times tbh.

so real regarding how they didnt even ask anyone about banning tiktok, they just did it

they went back on it shortly afterwards but still, what if they dont go back on it next time? what if they ban xitter or discord? as long as its 'for the kids" its ok right? it sucks how much other countries parrot whatever the US does too, stupid groupthink doormat politicians >:(((

I don't know if it was the correct move to make at all for them to ban the entire app just like that, but the concern over China's government having so much access to personal information and the ability for them to potentially influence masses is for sure something to keep in mind

The governments intentions are for sure not pure, the NSA at least has been illegally collecting American citizens since at least 2007 and companies/services such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, YouTube, Skype, and Apple have all agreed to let the NSA and FBI collect anything they like. Not a schizo theory btw, this has been confirmed legit for like a decade yet nobody did anything abt it, nobody even remembers it and its still going on.

The government is just salty that the chinese government could potentially have a slice of the data pie, the american government at least also has flooded pretty much every social media with bot accounts that are basically just propaganda for the military or some other shit. The government doesn't have your best interests at hears, they 1000% have ulterior motives and I don't trust them a single bit

No lies there, the US government has ALWAYS used American citizens as test subjects and fodder for the meat grinder. The Patriot Act is such a huge overstep into our private lives and a spit in the face of everyone. The way I take it is if our own government treats us like that, then what could a government that is more outright authoritarian and has no obligation to us do?
Like I said I really don't know if banning it is the right move, I'd think trying to improve security or to continue seeing if ownership of the service can move to a company less tied with the CCP would be the solution, but I'm not expert in this field.
