Why the american tiktok ban is a good thing

heyo, i've heard a lot of doom and gloom about the potential tiktok ban in the states and since i'm such a nice guy i've decided to help cheer everybody up and give you all 5 reasons why the ban would be a good thing

1) If it would break your little heart to have your evil brainrot doomscroll app taken away from you there's always the option of using a VPN (which you probably should be doing already on an app like tiktok)

2) There's already approximately, without hyperbole, one million billion alternatives for tiktok (youtube reels, instagram shorts) where you can destroy your brain just as well if tiktok gets banned and for whatever reason you refuse to use a VPN

3) If people stop watching youtube shorts it will result in youtubers stopping the creation of youtube shorts so they can go back to making the actual long videos that i fucking subscribed for

4) The banning of tiktok (and other short-form platforms) will result in race relations improving by 9000% (I mean jesus christ have you seen instagram reels?!)

5) maybe if tiktok goes away we can stop blasting every video and thumbnail with a billion ai filters that just make everything look like a deep-fried meme circa 2018 (i know this shit started on tiktok)

One of the main prombles with the ban (my opoinon) that it's the only money coruse (exept maybe youtube shorts) for many infulencers because there are many infulencers that are unemployed + Before the music ban it was one of the only ways for small indie artists to get a following or to promote their music.

But either way I hope it will get banned and forggten for good

still, tik tok is sadly a big news source for a lot of americans, and tik tok has somehow managed to bring support and awareness to different issues, like the war in ukraine and palestine, as well as other point of views on different events

tbh i also think thats an issue. I don't think anyone should take ANY news from tiktok (or any short form platform) without giving it incredible scrutiny (i.e researching every claim made)

also just to be clear this is a problem internet-wide (i mean jesus christ have you seen xitter) i'd just recommend picking up an actual physical newspaper at this point lawl or actually read from some place that has to follow journalistic integrity law

did you hear about the elections in romania? the results were canceled because of ”potential russian involvement”. the guy who won, pro-putin and appreciative of romanian ww2 figures, spent no money on his campaign. how? tik tok. got extremely popular. he had very surface-level speeches, praising god and patriotism, with subtle extremist values.
romania is considering suspending tik tok rn, so tik tok is pretty much a worldwide issue
