i just saw this TikTok saying "idk who needs to hear this, but, being alternative doesn't make you any less white", and i literally could not agree more. it made me think a lot of this person i use to date, they were queer, alternative and neurodivergent, and had also dated predominantly non-white people, and because of this they thought they were somehow "different" or "better" than other white people. they had kind of self proclaimed as "not a regular white person". its not like that's the end of the world, but the reality is they are EXACTLY like every other white person, in fact they were almost a stereotype. they were born and lived in Sweden as a kid, their family ate spoonful's of mayo on the side of EVERY meal, they had family game nights, the list could go on forever. i have this memory where we were just sitting on their bed, and they were talking about how they didn't like spicy food, and then out of no where goes "but not in a white way though." i wasn't even thinking that tbh, but it very much was in a white way. they were genuinely a lovely person and we had a good relationship, but omg, the way they thought they'd be claimed by everyone but the white people, golly gosh it got on my nerves. I'm mixed, so i grew up with both a brown parent and a white parent, and i can say with full certainty they are the whitest of the whites. so yes, anyway, point is, idc how alternative you are, how many different ethnicities you're friends with or have dated, if you're queer; if you have 2 white parent's, you're white.
