So if anyone's been paying attention, you'll know the US is en route to basically collapsing and it's depressing a lot of people. It's to the point where there's no room for anything other than being doomerist about anything.
And for me...I still feel hopeful if that makes sense.
Like if you know the history of this country and how it's constantly DESPERATELY trying to emulate the Roman Empire and keep a tight leash on the countries it's exploiting, then all of this "unprecedented times"...was actually very well precedented. Eventually countries in places like South America, Africa, and the Middle East were going to grow numb to the sanctions and the bombings and the exploitation.
They were ALWAYS going to start fighting back.
If you live in the US, you live in the Imperial core which means that yeah life isn't easy. You're basically propagandized from birth and led into believing a narrow minded worldview. You'll spend most of either your youth or adult life undoing all of that while quality of living gets worse because our country's oligarchs can't imagine living with one less cent to their billions. You're stuck with a two party system where one blames immigrants, PoC and gay people. Meanwhile, the other party only knows how to pretend things are ok and getting better while stopping ACTUAL progress (looking at how the Dems kneecapped Bernie's campaign in 2016 when he was more popular than Hilary. I CANNOT stress how the Dems would rather lose against someone like Trump than follow politicians like Bernie towards progress).
Living in the Imperial core isn't easy in the slightest but the thing that keeps me hopeful is that however we have it here will never be the same as how worse it is for other places. Like, I get that it sounds very "others have it worse" but the US has always been fascist, the only thing that changed is who is the victim. PoC (people of color) in the imperial core have always been subjected to the worst the US government has to offer its citizens.
I say this as a black person. You wanna know how bad it can get look at how Black folks and Native American folks have been treated by this country since its inception. Now remember despite all of that, we're still here.
We should still fight HARD obviously. But to anyone feeling like this is the end of all things, just know that however worse it's going to get will never be as bad as places like the Congo or Palestine. You're still not getting the brunt of it. So take advantage of that and fight back. In ANY way you can. Go to protests, join local organizations like the PSL or mutual aid groups in your state if you can, help volunteer at food shelters, spread education online and in your neighborhoods, stay unified as a class (THAT'S THE BIGGEST ONE, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE LUANNE IN ORDER TO FIGHT FOR HER RIGHTS, FIGHT FOR THEM BECAUSE SHE'S A HUMAN BEING), stop making fun of people for being uneducated and maybe learn why they believe in a false history (there are places in this country where children are being taught that Native Americans gave away their lands), recognize how certain populations are being PURPOSEFULLY lied to, stop discounting other folks in the working class because they're from either the north or the south.
The US' infrastructure makes it hard for people to connect and thrives on people giving up on each other. Our gov KNOWS people won't put in the effort. SO DO JUST THAT. PUT IN THE EFFORT TO CARE.
