Moth poorly explains horseshoe theory (i talk about hyperpop)

Ladies, gentlemen and everyone in between, tonight we will witness a thrilling match between two icons of the music scene! Two of the greatest, most progressive hyperpop artists!

In the one corner, we have Ms. Remover! Formally known as Jane Remover!!! Rahhhh the crowd goes wild for her! A lot of music beneath her belt! Creator of the famous dariacore trilogy as well as Frailty and Census Designated!

In the other corner, we have underscores!!! A lot less experienced than Jane Remover but she has made it to this position through her lyrical and musical prowess alone. A natural talent!

Now, ladies! I want a good clean fight, no hits below the belt! Ding ding ding! Dumb bit aside. Does it sometimes feel like Jane Remover and underscores are compared to each other a lot. I definitely see why. They're both trans hyperpop artists who have made a name among critics. 100 gecs also falls into this category but uhh they're a league of their own, atleast on a sonic level, there is a comparison to be made between underscores and Jane Remover. They both mix noise, hyperpop and acoustic/country elements into their music and both of them make deeply personal music.

Or maybe I'm the only one comparing them... I think that is the case because I found them at the same point and as such they both served as my introduction into hyperpop music which isn't my favorite genre. Nowhere near, I wouldn't even go so far as to say I like hyperpop. It's there. It's just not a genre I'm into. Ewww where's the trumpets????! Where's the Kendrick feature??? Not even an Earl feature??? But then I found Wallsocket. I remember all my music moots were talking about Wallsocket and I thought okay I'll check it out...

ALL THE WAY THROUGH, MY ATTENTION WAS HELD! THATS A CONSISTENT ALBUM though consistent in inconsistency. The albums cover is a massive massive horse shoe. It's not that massive actually, someone showed me a picture they took next to the horseshoe. It's smaller than i thought but horseshoe theory is an important part of the album. It's not something that I believe, I think underscores is too smart to believe it but it's a very character driven album and through the horseshoe theory, we can really understand the depth of the songs. Like My Guy (corporate shuffle) on the director's cut speaks of this guy who the speaker refers to as "my guy" she says it three times each referring to a different person (her doctor, lover and enemy). There's also the symbol of good luck.

A lot of her songs have her (I'm assuming prod tag) "G-G-G-G-G-GOOD LUCK!" which is also a part of the dual nature. Good luck is both used to support the characters but also sarcastically like "good luck, you're on your own, bud!" And the horseshoe itself also represents this. It depends on your perspective whether or not the horseshoe is lucky.

Songs like Johnny Johnny Johnny also reflect this dual nature. Trigger warning for that song. I forgot to leave trigger warnings in my last blog, i apologize. But I'll rectify that now! TRIGGER WARNING!!! Johnny Johnny Johnny is a disgusting Song about grooming or rather the situation is disgusting, the Song is good. It's so catchy and romantic BUT that's if you don't read the lyrics, I was listening to this like "hey this songs sweet... WAIT WHAT????" that's the type of dual nature on here too. It appears like a love song but it's actually really gross and of course the speakers perspective changes.

She first thinks its romantic and then realizes how fucked up it was! Also yeah politics of course. There's lots of politics talk. Because it's about America but like horseshoe theory which is like right wingers and left wingers at most extreme are equally bad which neither I nor underscores believes. I hope she doesn't. Idk I just think that there comes a point where you have to turn to extremism as a leftist. The left is usually forced into extremism by the extreme right but that's beside the point. It's an amazing album, one of my favorite albums of all time!

Jane Remover is good too. I found Frailty shortly after I found Wallsocket and I didn't quite get that album for a while, until like last week. This album has some amazing depth to it. I still prefer Wallsocket but Frailty is great! It's Essentially about places. Going from place to place until you find home. Home representing satisfaction and comfort and these places where she stops being people who she's in temporary relationships with. There's a lot imagery involving being lost, being misplaced, missing a place. Whatever, it's something you just need to hear. Have a genius page open with the lyrics while you do. Jane employs some cool songwriting techniques. I mentioned one just now in passing but like I didn't explain in detail because hearing it for the first time is like mind blowing. Anyway, I don't like the sonic elements as much as I did on Census Designated which is fucking amazing but I need dive into the lyrics. I really liked this song Backseat Girl. I've spoken about it. Listen to that one. Damn tho, Jane's vocals developed too, like wtf. I'm listening to some songs from Census rn

Also look up the photos from Census Designated's release. It's amazing photography. I looked up the photos again and JANE IS FROM NEWARK NEW JERSEY???? NEW JERSEY MAFIA????? TONY SOPRANO????? Okay, let's see where underscores is from rq. Damn! Underscores is not part of the new jersey mafia! She's older than Jane?? Idk why i thought Underscores would be around my age for some reason. I'm glad she's not because that would make me like crazy jealous. Fuck you mean she made one of the greatest albums oat at my age. I'm glad she made it at 23! I still have a few years Drop something amazing.

Frailty is kinda like Dostoyevsky works and Wallsocket is like Tolstoy works. Interesting. Anyway, guess which of the two authors I like more. Dostoyevsky or Tolstoy??? If you know me... you should know.

Anyway! Listen to...

Quinn and Glaive are good! But that's about it. I think you'd love Wallsocket by Underscores tho if you haven't. You'd love the political commentary. There's a really cool part I liked where one of the features referenced a song I really like by pavement as an elaborate way of calling a cop a pig. The writing is so clever. But I don't listen to a lot of hyperpop, sorry

hyperpop blog..... no mention of osquinn, glaive, lieu, aldn, ericdoa..... THEY WERE 15 ON FL 10 MAKING GROUNDBREAKING SHIT FAOJDGNSDIGAS. i could rant endlessly about the birth of hyperpop and where it is now. I think Jane Remover is a solid pick and shes done a lot to direct the course of hyperpop. but man oh man when quinn dropped 'i don't want that many friends in the first place' changed my fucking life
