I’ve really wanted to make this blog for a while, but I kept getting threats in my IMs because they’re open to the public. Luckily, things have calmed down, so I feel comfortable making this blog now.
I want to start by saying I’ve only become somewhat right-leaning over the past four years. Before that, I was pretty damn left—not communist-level left, but in the ballpark. Even during the first two years of Biden’s run, I was still left/center.
But I’m tired. I’m tired of the wars, the genocides, just... everything. So, this election, I was all-in on Trump.
Now, before you crucify me in the replies, hear me out.
My family is working class. We don’t give a rat’s ass about abortion or trans surgery for kids—we just want to be able to eat and pay for our existence. It sounds harsh, but the abortion issue has been around for decades, and there’s no way it’s going to be banned federally. If it matters to you, vote in your state elections.
I only formed my opinion on trans corrective surgery for minors after meeting a trans person (M2F). They explained the whole process and how their treatment post-op was going (they were 21 at the time). The fact that it’s not fully reversible and companies profit off it just irks me.
But hey, if you’re 18 and making your own decisions, I don’t care. That’s your choice. But getting these operations at 15, 14, or even 13 is wrong on so many levels. In my opinion, it’s borderline child abuse if you let your child go through something so extreme.
Now, moving past my personal opinions, let’s talk about how and why Kamala lost.
And no, you can’t just blame everyone else. That’s how a child argues.
IDENTITY POLITICS.
For some odd reason, the Harris campaign decided to pander to everyone but the majority. Remember, we are divided by class, not race, gender, orientation, or anything else. The rich fuckers WANT us to hate each other because if we didn’t, we’d hate them.
So while Trump was campaigning in working-class towns and pushing policies that appealed to the average American (i.e., MOST VOTERS), Kamala’s team spent over $1,000,000,000 (ONE BILLION DOLLARS) on celebrities and TikTok promotion. Why the hell would the average person vote for you because you had Kim Kardashian twerk on stage??? In what world does that make sense???
Then there was just... no policy for MONTHS. Like, we were running on guesses about what she’d do in office. When she finally started talking policy, the election was like A MONTH AWAY. WHO DOES THAT???
Instead of focusing on her own policies and ideas, her entire campaign became, “I’m NOT Trump!!!!” Girl, no one cares.
And then she started LYING??? Project 2025??? Federal abortion ban??? You can’t just make shit up! At least TRY to root it in something real.
Oh, and don’t even get me started on how disliked she was within her own damn party. They literally just appointed her as the nominee after Biden’s horrible debate with Trump. The party didn’t even vote on it! The higher-ups just PICKED her, and everyone was supposed to fall in line and agree??? So much for DEMOCRACY. There was a damn protest outside of the DNC because of how much infighting there was.
okay rant over

May I add another observation about the ‘survivalist’ standpoint of working-class America:
I've been researching Appalachia recently (to make a character in a story I'm writing more ‘realistic’), and I've learned that in places like Appalachia, people make their living from the current industry there, (which is generally designed to exploit the working class by giving them as few options as possible). In theory, this is quite unfair, but regardless, this industry in question is coal mining.
Generally, they 'don't give a damn' who the presidential candidates are, as long as the party that's running supports the coal mines, because that's how their families survive. Many of the people who live there also work very hard, because coal mining requires physical labour and very dangerous conditions... I believe because of their determination, nobody can really say anything negative about them... It's pretty incredible.
BUT what's interesting about this election is that neither Harris nor Trump said anything about what they’re going to offer for the coal miners... and if we're talking mainstream, blue goes in advocacy for clean environment laws (which are usually against coal because it's a fossil fuel), but if you look at where the most coal is produced in the US, it's generously red.
Honestly, both candidates could have said something, and I don’t know if the states that actually do mine coal would make a difference in the vote, but there DOES seem to be a correlation of survival among people who voted red.
Hate the system. Not each other.

I think a lot of people around here, especially in my state, support Trump because he’s openly endorsed and worked with our governor, who’s now serving in the Senate (look up Jim Justice if you’re curious).
Jim has always stood up for the mining industry and the use of our natural resources—something that was heavily restricted under the previous administration. While those restrictions were meant to “save the planet” or whatever, they ended up devastating our economy.
Personally, I admire Jim Justice. He’s done a lot for the state, including funding and building a campsite that hosts the BSA Summit Jamboree every four years, drawing visitors from all over the world. He genuinely cares about West Virginia, and the way the last administration essentially ignored him angered a lot of people here.
West Virginia used to be a reliably blue state—just look at how we voted when JFK was on the ballot. But things shifted in 2016, largely because of how much damage Obama’s policies did to us. Seeing the same disregard happen again only solidified the belief that Democrats don’t care about working-class America. They seem to ignore communities like ours, treating us as “lesser” people.
Just look at how they responded when the hurricane tore through parts of lower Appalachia—$750 and a prayer. That’s all the survivors received. Let’s not forget, these people lost their homes, their livelihoods, and in some cases, their lives. So, of course, they’re going to vote against an administration that turned a blind eye to their suffering and left them to fend for themselves.

This part is true, I sometimes wonder if people do full research into the reasons why people continue doing environmentally damaging things, and even though it's horrible, our system is clever. Another thing people forget is that in order to save our planet, we need to be financially stable.
It's awesome that Jim supports your state a lot, and it's inconsiderate (but not surprising) that the president now isn't doing much. I don't pay much attention to political news, but I assure you it feels like there has been no difference in US laws between 2020 and today. I do agree though there's probably more divisions amongst people.
Social aspects, which are super important, blue ends up dominating the votes, but with the explosion of social media and completely ignoring the financial aspects of getting things that would affirm social movements, they just ‘expect’ it to happen. Which feels unsustainable considering social movements in the 1900's were not done just like that. Maybe we are going backwards, forwards, but at least we have social media because now we can get communities for every social movement at the click of a button.
The bad treatment of the South & Eastern parts of America is something that makes me mad. At times I hear people make fun of the way they talk and simply equate them to an inferior status just because of that. This doesn't seem right to me. One of my best friends who lived in the south always got higher marks than me on exams. We both had different views on things, but they sure weren't stupid.
PS. The BSA Summit Jamboree thing looks fun asf I wish my state had that
