WEEN: brown trilogy pt 2 (the pod)

okay so this review may be a tad bit biased because this is genuinely one of my favorite albums like at all the pod is in some ways a step down from godweensatan due to somehow having even shittier audio quality but if anything it just adds to the vibe the whole album has this sludgy scuzzy vibe goin on and i think this is the peak of "brown" music which just means bad in a good way

the pod is the second album ween made and my god is this a kick ass album like holy mother of shit the opener is a little odd its a lo fi blues song and honestly isnt that good but its a good opener for the album it really sets the tone but man the second song on this album just makes my day "dr rock" is a really cool parody of 70s era hard rock and its so goooooood like this album has such few misses to me and it really just keeps going frank is a gritty rock song that has some cool influences from pere ubu , sorry charlie actually made me kind of like country music its not as twangy as most country songs its this sort of lo fi mac demarco take on the genre which i find interesting it feels like something you would hear being played in some hole in the wall texas saloon at 4 am when they start kicking out some old drunkards, then you get the stallion a song that is both funny and good it has vibes similar to early primus and some post hardcore music with a slight middle eastern twist to it its cool as fuck, pollo asado might be one of my favorite songs on the album its a song that is just some guy ordering tacos for 2 minutes over a wierd beat and idk how to explain it but it brings me peace, right to the ways and the rules of the world has this sort of early bowie vibe like honky dory era bowie its really good and the crappy mic reeally shows in this song you hear a lot of clipping but idk it still works for me , captain fantasy starts of being a really calm song and then transitions into this lat 70s early 80s style arena rock ballad that you would hear in some cheesy montage, demon sweat is another standout and it has this really calm instrumental and it feels like something to listen to on a ocean side drive at night it has a really kickass guitar solo that gives this ethereal dreamlike feel to the song, molly is not a good song but it always makes me crack up when i listen to it its just a shitty song sun in this wierd steccato voice and the chorus is just two guys saying molly over and over , im gonna skip over a couple of songs because they arent that noteworthy but Laura has to be the best song on the album it feels like getting high for the first time when that chorus hits a couple songs later you get Oh my dear ( i must be falling in love) which has this folksy pop vibe something you might hear in a wes anderson movie the last songi want to go over is pork roll egg and cheese which takes the refrain form "frank" and puts it in a bubble gum pop type song glazed in a heavy coat of flanger

all in all this album will always hold a special place in my heart really kicks ass and it just makes my day id give it a solid 9/10
