Happy national indigenous peoples day! (Quick rant about treatment of Natives by the US government)

In light of the current holiday, I will be addressing some of my opinions on the US governments treatment of native Americans. (For context I am not native, but I still have a few things to say about the treatment of native populations in America)

Something that I notice with a lot of schools in the state I live in is that they will have posters and such stating that "this building is on native land", "Ok? Give it back then?" Is what I tend to think when I see those things, it would be less annoying if they just claimed that it's their land and been like "Our American land is something to be proud of" instead of "ohh well, Even though we are SAYING it's native land, we aren't going to give the native groups that it belongs to the land back... we're just recognizing this because it's our fault but we aren't going to take full accountability"! Either take no accountability or full accountability, I don't think it's possible to be the way that the US government is handling this right now because it's stupid. I think that of course, there could be a better solution in the middle that leans towards giving more land to Natives, but with our current legislation, I don't think that's possible

I've also noticed that government officials in America do NOT care about natives, (cough cough especially with the Dakota access pipeline that is STILL effecting reservations such as White Earth in MN), I personally don't think either of our main presidential candidates will benefit native Americans, but I'm not old enough to vote yet and don't do enough research on these things)

I might've just been yapping, but my point is that the United States government says a lot of things about supporting Indigenous people, but wont restore their rights over the land and still does a lot of things that negatively impact themĀ

Lmk what y'all think, thank you for reading this rant!!!
