I am tired of unethical usage of Ai aka generative Ai

Firstly, AI has been a plague since it has been a buzzword around the company and greedy rich people.

It's like they think that Generative AI will improve their app or IP. I was scrolling through my Instagram and they now have a new chatbot. It seems that every single social media app has this AI chatbot that they are begging you to use.
Microsoft and Apple launch their generative AI and guess what? They actually lied in their ad because the chatbot was so unhinged with crazy prompt responses, and what is worse is that they stole their AI from OpenAi. OpenAi is your usual chatGPT so it all circles down to there.

That was your little intro to my hatred for Ai.

I switched majors, I was doing Animation and game design before I went into film. My animation teacher at the time was telling us that one day, AI would help us to our job, not replace us. I was furious with this statement, really Generative AI helping us? taking other people's creations and putting it into ours. Well, I didn't know what ethical AI was. An example of this is in Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse. They trained a bot, with their own sources and material, to help them create small facial details or smudge lines to make their job easier and to not surpass their deadline. This is ethical usage of AI and Bot training, it is not stealing anyone's position.

But beyond the little good, there is so much bad in this, and that is where I talk about the unethical usage of Ai Aka Generative AI.

Generative AI in its most disclosed definition: refers to the usage of AI to create new content, like text, images, music, audio, and videos.
In that sense, these AI steal information from information the user inputs or from other sources. Open AI is the one that revolutionized the AI frenzy, many social media apps, IPs or what Open AI has produced or uses here are so examples:
  • -ChatGPT(all versions)
  • -Sora
  • -Microsoft
  • -Shutterstock
  • -Meta
  • -Google
  • -Character AI

These are only a few examples and if I am wrong please comment below to rectify anything I say.
The point of Generative AI is to get as much data as possible and then based on their database, cultivated from everything on the internet without consent, will give you an answer or picture you need.
This has brought so many controversies that have marked the internet and that is mainly why our generation is so scared of AI, let's go through some that marked me, shall we?

The Atroic controversy(2023):

Atroic was caught on stream watching Deepfake porn of popular female (i hate using that word) streamers, among them being Pokimane or QTCinderella.
Streamers involved who were portrayed in these videos, later on came out and explained how difficult it was to get rid of Deepfakes and that they had to pay to get them deleted, QTCinderella even told that she would sue the website that cultivates and creates these videos.

It was one of the first AI controversies that I saw and it marked me so much. Women are in so much danger already in daily life and now we are adding this... It was so fucking disgusting and the apology sucked ass so much i had never seen a worse apology ever. These things sadly do exist and it is so hard to fight it, almost impossible.

The Wacom and Gobelins Paris art school AI usage Controversy(2024):

The company Wacom a promotional campaign on Twitter (aka X) for advertising and users found out that they used AI in their picture. Mind you Wacon is a company that provides drawing tablets and other things for digital artists. And Gobelins Paris, France's most prestigious art school, uses AI on their websites

I had a big laugh until I quickly stopped and saw how ridiculous it was. There was no way in hell an Art school and an Art supply company used AI, it sounded so stupid. But they did... I kinda had a 'doom' moment when I said to myself that nothing could be saved, not even my hobby could be safe from AI.

The launch of Sora controversy(2024):

At the launch of Sora, OpenAI's video creation, the internet revolted at how dangerous it this tool could be and how it frame anyone if you have a picture or video of said person.

This was ALL OVER EVERY SINGLE PLATFORM. Women being terrified of what Sora AI could produce, some people explained that their older generation actually believes what people are producing on Sora, some are freaking out about more misinformation and others are really scared of what weirdos like pedos or worse can create for their own sike fantasies. It was also a big threat to animation and replacing animators' positions.

AI is a plague, let me rephrase, Generative AI is a plague on humankind's creativity and willingness to physically create.
I haven't even touched on the insane parasocial problems that Character.ai or Janitor.ai bring but that will be for another blog post.

One of our generation's biggest worries is AI and like my father always says when he pesters me:

"Will this job be replaced by AI?"

As a film student also, I'm scared for the future of the film industry. Because, let's be honest, do you really think a billionaire production company executive is going to listen to a bunch of newgrads or up-and-coming artists about how using genAI will make their productions worse? No, they'll see "It's cheaper if you use Sora" then make it mandatory to use it for all upcoming films. And personally, I don't think the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes will have helped us in the long-term.

There is already AI used in movies as i think.. It's starting to spread like wildfire in all creative sections.
'Late Night with the Devil' film used AI over actual graphic designers :/
It's such a shame.
