The alt subculture these days

I got this idea from a bulletin my friend on here posted. I figure that, since I have so much to say about it, I might as well write it all out.

People these days seem to view alt the same way they view being "Chic" or something. This is very much NOT TRUE. Alt actually is NOT JUST A FASHION-BASED THING!! Alt is based around music and a progressive belief system. Just because you wear chains and a black Lil' Peep shirt it doesn't make you alt, Kyle. (No hate to Lil' peep btw, I actually rlly like his music. RIP Gus.)

You CANT be alt and a TERF/Homophobe/Transphobe/Xenophobe/General Bigot. In other words YOU CANNOT BE ALT AND DISCRIMINATE AGAINST MINORITIES!!

If you want to be alt, research their core beliefs and listen to the music pertaining to the subculture you'd like to identify with. if you call yourself goth and only listen to Mitski and Melanie and wear your shein boots but you don't listen to the actual music (I will not provide goth examples as I have always considered myself more emo/punk) you are not goth.

The clothes don't make the punk, the punk makes the punk.

I've run out of motivation to write and its lunch but yeah there's my very humble opinion
