thought experiment ...

imagine, for a moment, you're in a grocery store. you're having trouble finding an aisle (hygiene, for example.) you go up to an employee to ask for assistance. what would you do if they started counting? just counting at you? it doesn't lead to anything, they just keep counting until you walk away. what would you do? at what number would you interrupt? at what number would you walk away? would you tell a manager? would you ever come back? think about it :D
