I won't mention names, I won't mention who has been doing a few questionable things. The person who is accountable for this knows who they are. This is just to state my opinion and some blatant facts. No hate speech, no attacking.ย
Just stating facts.
I haven't been on spacehey in a while due to it being summer/being on vacation. Recently I've been noticing my friend count going down a lot, finding out a lot of my close friends have been getting banned. Why? No idea, it's never specified and when they ask for a reason their new account gets immediately banned, and if they try to contact via email, they never get a response.
My friends, whom I have seen not do anything which could break the rules, have been getting banned many times. But, when looking at people such as TCC, Murderer lovers, people who are fetishizing school shooters -- they can easily stay on the platform, it will take a while for them to get banned.
Moving past that, recently I've been noticing a lot of bulletins getting banned. It started with one of my friends posting a copypasta, and then their bulletin got banned for breaking TOS. I couldn't believe it at first, so I tried to make a joke. I posted a bulletin by the title "spacehey is turning woke (CONTROVERSIAL๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ)" with a few words being censored (like men -> m*n), as you can see it was visibly a joke. After I have posted the bulletin I was immediately met with the same "Your bulletin has been suspended" screen as my friend. My other friend decided to do the same, this time without the censoring, to which their bulletin was suspended as well.
They got angry and tried to make a callout bulletin, surprise surprise, it got suspended as well. And then they got banned. Their main account + their alt have been suspended. For what reason? A joke. A simple joke, that has been repeated on this platform for months. People have been making these sort of funny jokes since I've been here, and I joined in September 2022.
This is a platform full of 13+ year olds, it's typical for such jokes to be posted on here. Taking away that possibility is simply taking away a form of teenagers being able to express themself, their humor, etc.
Like I said, I've been here since September 2022, even though I started actively using this website a year later I still care for it deeply. I met a lot of good friends here and seeing them get banned for simple jokes, seeing this website take every little thing you say and ban you immediately, it hurts. I care for this website, people who had me added especially during the New Year gore raid know that.
I hope this resolves soon, and people who have been banned for no reasons other than 'stupid jokes' get their accounts back.
In my opinion spachey should impliment temporary bans and warnings. Some of the people I know have been banned for things they did by mistake, it could have been easily avoidable if a mod sent them a warning via IMs or anything else just to let them know that they may or may not have done something wrong. A simple screen saying "This bulletin has been suspended due to breaking our rules" does nothing since the person who has made the bulletin doesn't know why it got deleted and might accidentally make the same mistake again.

Temporary suspensions or warnings is going to be ideal for spacehey, don't get me wrong tho but if the mods are very strict even it isn't that much harmful, I think temporary suspensions might be a good suggestion.

Hey, I am the one accountable. Unfortunately, SpaceHey currently only provides a very vague ban message, so I understand that people who get suspended may not fully realize the reasons. That being said, I can assure you that we do not ban randomly or for no reason.
I want to remind you that ban evading, meaning having gotten banned in the past but coming back with a new account, WILL get you (and all your alts) banned. Also, constantly being suicidal/making self harm content. Same goes for sexual content, hate speech and everything else in the SpaceHey rules. Based on the severity, we may only remove this content first, but if you repeatedly break the rules, we will ban you. You should also know that these rules apply everywhere on the site, whether that is IMs, bulletins, comments, etc.
The current issue is that there is simply a lot of confusion behind the bans and as I said I do understand it. But there are valid reasons behind them. We won't ban you if you don't break any rules or if you haven't gotten banned in the past. If you want to talk further about this, my IMs are open. Thank you!

I understand the reasons given for banning people based off Suicidal/Sexual content, but I have a simple question. Does this mean us, the spacehey community, aren't allowed to make such jokes like we have made before(for example the one from my bulletin where I said something along the lines of "I love m*n, I love d*ck, I love c*ck")? Just the usual copy-pastas, or other things. I understand banning/deleting blogs and bulletins that show or describe suicidal/sexual content very vividly.

Also, I'm sorry to ask but, regarding the bulletins, was the one which contained hate speech and death on a mod made by my friend who got banned? I am only asking this since I do not remember anything like that on the bulletin but it could be that my mind skipped the lines or that I have forgotten so please correct me if I'm wrong.

1. it really depends on the case. the bulletin which you are referring to was clearly made because other rule-breaking bulletins were getting deleted and you wanted to test it.

Okay, thank you for your answer, thank you for educating me. I will make sure not to even accidentally break the rules by making stupid jokes like that.
If I can ask one more question though, just for the future. If somebody were to get banned, having posted no bulletins that could've broken the rules, how are they supposed to find out what their reasons for their ban was? Like you stated, making alt accounts/new accounts to find out why they've been banned/ban evading will get them immediately banned, therefore they won't be able to DM a mod personally, and sending an email to spacehey will rarely get us an answer. Should the banned person ask a friend to DM a mod to ask for the reason of the ban? I remember something similar happening to a popular user on here and their friend made a blog about it and received an answer.

alright, we are all humans and we make mistakes. it is VERY clear when someone breaks a rule accidentally, so if you do, trust me you will be fine
please do not worry about that. if you are unsure about something, my IMs are always open and i'm always willing to talk about it. also if you got banned, sure you may make an account if you want to talk about your suspension. but the spacehey rules currently do say that you are not allowed to make a new account after you get banned, and that's really not up to me. feedback for the rules go to support@spacehey.com

i had another account few months ago. it was a confession account. there is no NSFW or anything that breaks the tos. but i got suspended because of "spam". honestly i did nothing wrong, i didn't even spam at all

It's annoying I know but there's like 15 mods here so I think they're using an algorithm to do it for them, they should try doing something in where your post gets into revision and then accepted

honestly given with everyone calling for heavier moderation -- this was to be expected. when a social platform is heavily moderated, even jokes wont slide because there is effectively no way to tell jokes from people being serious, and even if the moderators could, itd be hypocritical for them to take down one thing being said in a serious manner but not the same thing being said even in a joking manner. either way, something rulebreaking is being said, therefore, it needs to be removed, no matter the context

we do report them, a lot actually, and it usually takes a really long time for their account to be banned. we've been talking about the tcc problem for a very long time and in my opinion i think the mods should be taking care of those accounts just as fast as they're taking down the accounts of people who have violated other rules, ESPECIALLY the gore accounts.

we havent had any reports for gore accounts. as for tcc, when we do get reports about it, we act on it within the day. i keep seeing people complaining that we dont ban gore or tcc people but the truth is we don't have any reports about them!! if you report them we will obviously take action, no reason not to!!

For mods: i have a question. Why would you guys ban my husband (Augustus) for having the word "fag" in his name. He is a gay man and can say that . He isn't a cigarette company. There was no reason to ban him. He didn't even post bulletins or anything. Did y'all even view his profile? Or did you just see "fag" in his name and ban him? And if we are gonna be honest you guys should have banned me, not him, for putting that word in his username.
We are just kids fucking around, we aren't harming you with a single word.
That's not what I'm fucking saying what I'm saying is they thought he was a fucking cigarette company just for having that word in his name, yet they let casino companies and all that other shit on this site.
Yes, we should be worried about what people can and can't say but banning someone for being a supposed "cigarette company" without even looking at their profile is just stupid.

hey, i am not sure why your friend got banned, maybe if you had their id i could look into it. also, i've seen many people think they get banned for being a smoking/vaping company. but it's actually not the case, it's just when you get banned, thats the last sentence on the ban message and people get confused!!

I'm not quite sure either. I **jokingly** put (THE FAGGG!!) In his name cus we joke around with each other like that a lot and before you know it he got banned and the reasoning was "being a cigarette/tobacco company." He didn't even post anything. No bulletins or anything.

yeah, that isn't the reasoning, its just easy to get confused because when you get banned it says this in the last sentence (like it does in the rules, safety section)
