Hey SpaceSleeper (32): Planned Obsolescence

I don't know if you have picked up on it but I am a HUGE hater of planned obsolescence. I know that everyone hates it and that's nothing new but I have been actively seeking specific tech for years based off of their longevity rather than the name behind it showing up in the handbag of a celebrity. I looked through a lot of reviews and gone off of the word of mouth I was getting in circles around me, based  off of features like battery life, longevity, speed, etc. just because I get very uptight about having to buy a new device that is worth $700+. Sadly, if you read my recent blog post a few days back, you would know that I have been having issues with my phone that I have had for upwards of a year and a half.

If you want to know why I think my phone has so suddenly developed issues with the speaker audio (sounding like it is consumed by static) and the battery lasting for less than an hour and a half, I would tell you it is probably because the company I had bought the phone from just a few years ago has recently been getting boycotted. I genuinely believe this is the most unobscured case of planned obsolescence as it quite literally started to immediately develop new issues overnight with no prior signs of such. Devices nowadays have their obsolescence so baked into them that you're genuinely better off rooting an android phone made in 2016 to use 5G than getting a new one at all, which is sad. Capitalism truly doesn't breed innovation but instead deterioration (07/08/2024).
