Yesterday may have been our last 4th of July

Yesterday was the #4thofJuly, which is the day the United States declared it's independence from England and became it's own country. Sadly, it may have been our last after 248 years. On Monday, the Supreme Court declared that the President is pretty much above the law and has immunity for any official acts they may he committed while in office, essentially making him a king or dictator, which is exactly the kind of shit #GeorgeWashington and our founders wanted to get away from. Of course, this was done to shield #DonaldTrump from any charges, past and present, since he basically picked the justices to give the court a right-wing supermajority. While some people think this applies to any #POUTS, including #JoeBiden, for the most part, it does not. Chief Justice John Robert gave himself a way out by stating the "President is not above the law" and what they President does in office can still be a crime if the court determines that the behavior falls outside of "his official acts", without specifying what that is, with Justice Ketanji Brown-Jackson writing in her dissent ""The official-versus-unofficial act distinction also seems both arbitrary and irrational." But what would basically shield a President from immunity, at least as far as THIS #SCOTUS is concerned, is their political party. In other words, if a #Republican orders the dissolution of all other political parties and orders their arrest and even execution, it's okay. But a #Democrat does something, like, I don't know, declare the #GQP a terrorist ogranization(which they have become), that's a no-no. Basically, this means that #RichardNixon would have been allowed to get away with #Watergate and not have to resign, #RonaldReagan with #IranContra(which he did anyway), #GeorgeWBush with #warcrimes(ditto) and #Trump with allowing the #January6 attack on the Capitol(ditto) while #BillClinton would have been removed from power and arrested for something trivial like getting a blowjob. Unfortunately, following Biden's performance at his debate with Trump last week, is not likely to be re-elected. If he steps down and let's Vice President #KamalaHarris run, she might do better. Especially if she hammers home the fact that Trump will literally be a dictator and end freedom in this country once and for all, thanks to right-wing power grab that is #Project2025. Of course, I think, regardless who wins in November, the #USA is finished because half the country will not accept the results. If Biden, Harris or any Democrat wins, Republicans will say that it was rigged and illegitimate and #redstates like #Texas and #Florida will all want to secede from the Union. If Trump wins, #bluestates like #California and #NewYork will leave because they won't want to be part of a #fascist #theocracy #dictatorship. We could be headed for another #CivilWar. I'm a truly afraid for the future. Is it any wonder I welcome an #alieninvasion?
