What an experience. My brother wanted to install Ubuntu on his main laptop since he’s a computer science major & GNU/Linux is popular with developers, so he began the process of creating an installer & partitioning his drive.
Then he made the mistake of installing Ubuntu Server instead of Ubuntu Desktop. Ubuntu Server is not beginner friendly in the slightest & he ended up deleting his main drive while installing it (losing all of his data on Windows, he had some backups though).
Then came the arduous process of trying to partition his drive in Ubuntu—You can’t. If you’re using the drive (i.e. it’s mounted), you cannot shrink it unlike how you can with Windows. Furthermore, he was having consistent internet issues on his first install, but it eventually worked out. We ended up reinstalling windows, partitioning the drive there, & then reinstalling Ubuntu.
What. An. Experience. Made more painful due to my computer’s poor internet connection & slow download speeds.
This was his Book of Job.
