I was recently reminded of JumpStart (also called World of JumpStart, as shown by the title), a game that I was absolutely obsessed with when I was from the ages of 7 to 12 ("wait how long WAS I playing JumpStart??" I ask myself trying to remember when I had stopped playing). It was the first and only MMO game I played as a child and, maybe even, to this day. I have not the faintest idea why I was so enamored by this game and not something like Club Penguin, but that's not what this post is about. I used to desperately want the (paid) membership on the website when I was a kid. Nevertheless, I was a small prepubescent child, forced to roam the worlds only glancing and yearning to engage with the aspects of the game that required money, as they took away the ability to earn free coins away a bit before I stopped playing the game at the peak of my life on the website. All the same, the World of Jumpstart ended services in July 2023, and the brief moment I had touched it again in 2021 to reminisce was the last time that I had ever gotten to see the game as the website is no longer available for public viewing. Had I known it was the last time I would ever get to play my beloved childhood game, I probably would have spent longer on the mini-games and not just spent 15 minutes meandering on the racecar mini-game track, joking about the terrible controls while my acquaintance was talking about WoW (I later found out this person held a grudge against me after I kept interjecting the conversation to talk about JumpStart haha). I leave you with a link to the fandom wiki page to read a bit about the treasured game of my boyhood (WoJ fandom page). (06/11/2024) — Mars ᓚᘏᗢ |
