So I went in to try to make a custom layout. While I mostly missed the boat on the original myspace that was something I did during that time (I had one, but I didn't use it much beyond that).
I used to do this sort of thing all the time, back when I made my own websites I always customized them. That was sort of a whole thing with me.
However, two things happened, both to do with the passage of time.
First, the nature of client side code has changed a LOT. A lot of the old knowledge has only limited usability now. It's not that can't do modern client (I can and have), but that's a different beast and one that will take a bit of adaptation.
Second, and more importantly, we are in our 40s now. We have a day job and so many other things going on. We simply don't have the time and spoons to client side code dive anymore. Especially since I have a day job and have so many other things going on with my life.
Kinda sucks (especially since we enjoy coding, so much so it's our day job), but that's how it spins.
I just had a layout I was going to use as a test-case that I yanked a long time ago that I intended to study and reverse engineer. Now I just said "fuck it" and threw it on there.
So here we have it.
Still not sure what we're going to use this for beyond comment on using this platform, but you know what, it's a start.
Age overtakes us all eventually
