comparing the h0l0c@ust to palestine (censored because i don't know if i'll get in trouble)

honestly, i just need to get this off of my mind, and get other people's opinions.

first, i want to start this blog post, by saying i don't hate anyone. i am neither pro-israel, nor pro-palestine. i know that the conflict is very serious, and i wish nothing but the best for the victim's families, and the people that are put at risk by the genocide.

as much as i respect most people who are pro-palestine, because of everything going on, there are some people spreading hateful messages, and things are being overtaken by a new wave of anti-semitism.

online, i have seen holocaust rememberence posts being flooded with "free palestine" comments, and honestly, i think that these two genocides should be seperated, and not compared. of course, they have some similarities, but they are two different tragedies, and the comparison can be problematic and insensitive for several reasons.

the holocaust was a systematic genocide perpetrated by the nazi regime, resulting in the murder of six million jews, as well as millions of others, including romani people, disabled individuals, lgbtq+ individuals, and political dissidents. while the israeli-palestinian conflict has led to tragic loss of life and suffering on both sides, the scale and nature of the atrocities perpetrated during the holocaust are unparalleled. and comparing the israeli-palestinian conflict to the holocaust can oversimplify the complexities of the situation and distort the narratives of both israelis and palestinians. it fails to acknowledge the legitimate grievances and aspirations of both peoples and can perpetuate a one-sided understanding of the conflict.

while it's important to acknowledge and address human rights abuses and injustices wherever they occur, including in the israeli-palestinian context, it's crucial to do so in a manner that respects the unique historical significance of the holocaust and the complexities of the conflict in the middle east.

yet there are so many people that don't seem to understand, nor respect that.

on instagram, i made a comment explaining this, from my point of view/understanding, as a jew; and the replies made me sick.

i was told;

"the holocaust was all jew lies",

"why were you not killed in auschwitz <3",

"genocide in palestine was far longer than holocaust and make more victims",

"you're not different",

"pipe down jew",

"stfu jew, go back to auschwitz",

"womp womp",

"go fuck yourself",

"you jews deserved the holocaust",

"you know they'd shoot you dead, right?",

"never happened",

"jews ☕",

"L jew",

and more.

i honestly don't know what to do anymore. i want to be proud of my jewish ancestory, but everyone seems to hate me for simply wanting to not spread hate.

what do you guys think? :(

it doesn't matter whether or not you're "neutral". being neutral only helps the oppressors, because being neutral is not helping those who are being killed, but allowing a genocide to happen

While I understand your point, it's important to acknowledge that anyone who truly cared about Palestine wouldn't be using it to leave snarky and shitty remarks under Jewish posts. They're trolls that do not care about either and just want something to shit on folks with.

Also, neutrality is never good in the face of genocide.

i'm not necessciarly neutral, i just believe that we shouldn't hate on either side. i think that they should stop bombing eachother.

there's no real "eachother" when one side has the most advanced military in the planet and the other is people being masacred and trying anything and everything to survive /info

it is, however, very correct that nazis have infiltrated and co-opted (and driven people who don't know better) the pro-palestine movement, and made anti-semitism inside it sadly commonplace.

That's why I think that anyone that calls themselves pro-palestine should inform themselves about dogwhistles and call out any and everyone they find using them on the community.

These things should not be tolerated no matter who they are going against, ever.
