Lelantoon History (1953-1979)

1953: A small workers group arm themselves and march to the capitol, picking up roughly 30,000 other armed workers, and 10,000 un-armed.

1954: The WAoR (Workers Army of Rights) is the first variation of the WUoR, though we will refer to the country as the WUoR from here on out.

1955: After the 18 month rebellion, the previous government surrendered to the WUoR. Furthermore, all of the weapons, documents, money, etc. etc. were given to the WUoR, which was spent on keeping the land safe, and the population fed.

1958: The post revolution economy boost ran short, and prices of grain went up as that year in particular was the driest by far in the previous 20 years.

1959: A new group, feeling that the previous government was better, and created their own group called the UWOO (United West Ocean Organization)

1961: The UWOO became officially recognized as a country (and terrorist organization) by the WUoR. Tensions rose between the two nations.

1964: After the people in the UWOO had had enough, they went to the WUoR to protest, which was put to an end with force by the local militias in the WUoR.

1964: The WUoR payed $100 Million to the UWOO as a way of apologizing, y'know, after chasing 15,000 people out of their borders with military vehicles.

1970-1979:

After countless protests, and constantly rising tensions, along with other happenings, other countries started choosing sides between the two countries and began a Warm War.

1973: Scientists of the WUoR figured how to split the atom, which was quickly implemented into powering big lasers, facilities, and (of course) nuclear weapons.

1974: Most other countries also split the atom thanks to scientists bragging to the news and being "Such annoying brainiacs that they might as well be terrorists and enemies of the state" said the General of the WAoR (Quick Note: In 1955, the WAoR renamed themselves to the WUoR, but still kept the original name for the army.)

1974: The Arms Race began where (a lot like in our world) the WUoR and the UWOO began making nuclear weapons at a rapid pace, and they achieved the concept of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) by December 1974.

1979: After an extremely close call where missiles were launched, but exploded over the ocean, the two sides held an emergency meeting, and signed a neutrality pact, and agreed that nothing like that incident should happen ever again.

1982-2036
