from my understanding, even if they signed it TODAY, it still gives TikTok 6 months to sell it off. If its the end of march rn, the deadline would be at the end of September or beginning of October, which is basically at the beginning of voting in November. Since everyone e would be aware of the situation at that time, that'll sway people to vote in a way that doesn't benefit biden or even not vote at all. And that's just considering that it does pass. However, the senate is considering this and the fact the getting rid of all the businesses on tiktok would heavily effect the economy negatively, they are being much more careful and taking their time with it, and I'm convinced that they aren't gonna pass it. in any case we should focus on building community with those in person and learn how to organize within them while we can.
okay, but in all seriousness; regardless of it's status as a bytedance property imo the us should've done something at least a bit charitable to tiktok as opposed to the fuckfest that was that hearing.

Virginia banned Pornhub and that can obviously be bypassed with a VPN so I’m just gonna assume the supposed TikTok ban will be similar

Also, I heard about this theory: they are planning to ban TikTok since "TikTok made Gen Z Pro-Palestine" (there is an article on that, I'll link it when asked). As if Benjamin Netanyahu using the Bible to justify exterminating Palestinians wasn’t already enough to persuade even a formerly pro-Israel person like me to become pro-Palestine! That too while the IDF decided afterward that it was a good idea to livestream their own atrocities on a platform that’s known to be used by teenagers and young adults! Are these people in denial of their own bad choices or what? By the way, thanks for the link!
