The Return of SuperMega

Now that SuperMega (a.k.a The Funny Brothers) are officially coming back let's talk about it.

//TW: SA

SuperMega has always been a huge and important part of my life and my personality. When I was going through a major depression period those two were always there for me. Every upload would make my whole week worthwhile and it oddly enough it helped me keep going. I lost a bit of myself a few years ago after some pretty sad and scary stuff but when I would hear Matt and Ryan talk and joke it made me feel like I was apart of something again. Their jokes/humor, the music they talked about, the things they would do, and how genuine it all felt too, they were helping me build myself back up again.

I even went to see Matt Watson perform live during his "SEE YOU THERE" tour. That's when I knew how important they were to me. Being in that crowd and seeing Matt and Jim shit even Tucker it was like...I was truly meant to be there and that I belonged somewhere again.

Unfortunately we all know what happened with the "downfall of SuperMega" and how it all played out. A lot of stuff was said and done that has left a nasty aftertaste in the mouths of many viewers. Mine included. When I really truly invested myself into SuperMega it was after I had gotten SA'd by someone who I thought really cared about me and it hurt so bad. I watched SuperMega constantly to help me deal with that pain. Being able to laugh and be invested in them was such a blessing. Then to hear how Matt and Ryan dealt with the SA of a close friend really did hurt. A lot. It was like looking in another timeline of how I could have been treated. How scary that must've been for Lex. How could I proudly say they helped me through my own SA trauma when something terrible like that was happening behind the scenes.

Now, this next part is about my own personal feelings after the response videos came out.

I do genuinely believe them. They didn't handle it properly. As professionals and as friends. They could have done so so much more to ensure the safety and well-being of Lex. Letting him into the house with her after everything and not saying anything publicly about him being a terrible human and how he's no longer working with SuperMega because of that. Terrible. All of it.

What's also bad (obviously not as bad as SA) is how it went from "justice for Lex please speak up SuperMega" to "THE DOWNFALL AND DEVASTATING CRUMBLE OF SUPERMEGA!!!!! NOT CLICKBAIT PLEASE SUBSCRIBE". I will personally blame it on Leighton and other people who were just jumping on a traumatic situation (that had nothing to do with them) and made it about themselves and were looking for a moment to lie and speak nasty on Matt and Ryan for their own personal and selfish reasons. That right there ladies, gentlemen and my lovely They/Them's, is nasty people showing their true nasty self.

NOW, onto the the return of SuperMega;

I am very VERY excited to see what they do with the channel. More sketch comedy and music?! Yes, please. Especially if we can get another album out of Matt. I already loved the SuperMegaCast set so much, so appealing to look at and the visual gags were 10/10 (although sucked when I would be at work and not able to watch lol) and hearing that there would be a new set made my little non-binary toes clench in excitement. I'm really hoping they deliver on the better quality sketch content the most because, I and many other fans had noticed the real lack of sketch content lately and the focus seemed to be on the long long looooooong playthrough of Truck Sim. Which of course I enjoyed but not as gaming content, it was more like another addition to the weekly podcast. Just 2 funny brothers sitting and talking about goofy shit. But now that I'm on the topic gaming content I will say I am definitely worried about what they plan on going through with for let's plays going forward. In "SuperMega Returns" it was said that gaming will now be done through livestreams. I love livestreames. I've been watching Phisnom stream a lot lately and I used to watch Jerma985 stream a lot too (twitch just kinda sucks so I stopped ://) and a few others. But I have a feeling it might be a little hard on them and they may not have an easy time keeping up on such a promise.

All of this just to say, I'm very excited to see my favorite people come back. I write this wearing my 2022 Matt Watson Creator Clash tee. And I just want to see them succeed in their careers as much as I can. I wish only the absolute best for them.

Ah yes, the day I post being worried about their comeback and fulfilling their livestream promise they decided it would be their debut stream back. Megheads are eating so good right now.

Also, their early 2000's internet theme is so fucking sweet. The low qual gifs, their website and now their stream layout fits in perfectly with the vibe.

Thank you Matt and Ryan <3
