song analysis; Keep Talking - Pink Floyd

Keep Talking is about wanting to be alone and not speak to anyone, but someone is trying to guilt trip you into communicating with them. and possibly depression too.

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I sit in the corner
And no one can bother me
  • he’s alone, and he wants to keep it that way. he’d like to stay away from everyone.
I think I should speak now (why won't you talk to me?)
I can't seem to speak now (you never talk to me)
My words won't come out right (what are you thinking?)
I feel like I'm drowning (what are you feeling?)

  • clearly, he feels like he needs to say something now. but he can’t, nothing will come out correctly.
  • this person is trying to guilt trip him into communicating. saying he never talks to them.
I'm feeling weak now (why won't you talk to me?)
But I can't show my weakness (you never talk to me)
I sometimes wonder (what are you thinking?)
Where do we go from here (what are you feeling?)
  • he feels like he needs to hide himself, despite how horrible he feels. and he doesn’t know what to do with the other person anymore.
I feel like I'm drowning
(You never talk to me) you know I can't breathe now
(What are you thinking?) We're going nowhere
(What are you feeling?) We're going nowhere
  • he feels horrible, like he’s dying. the other person knows this, but they don’t care. and because of that, they’re going nowhere.
(Why won't you talk to me?)
(You never talk to me)
(What are you thinking?)
(Where do we go from here?)
